I look at our squad and think it's actually got more individual talent than last season
But the missing piece of the jigsaw is undoubtedly Tyler Bernardini. We miss his talent and his leadership on and off the court
It's my only explanation for the fact we don't look like the dominant team we used to be

You're quite simply lacking an experienced leader.
Tommo is as good a British role player as you'll find in this league. Consummate pro. Doesn't cause any trouble in a dressing room and is literally everything you'd want from a pro. But is he a leader? Is he going to get vocal when things aren't going to plan? Is he going to give the hairdryer treatment to Burnett when he turns the ball over needlessly or have players backs in a fight? Not convinced.
There isn't one leader on this team. Not one. That's where it's going wrong. How many games did Bernardini win games for you last year? And how many times was his presence alone a difference maker? Same went for Sulli before him. You dont have a guy like that.

Given Tyler isn't returning that doesn't bode well for the rest of the season. Will we retain some key players for next year? Think that's doubtful. Riders could be facing a big rebuild.

A big rebuild when actually it's one leader we need though MRF? Which of the imports don't you rate? Tyler was an Euro import slot. We've lost Laarson so we still have that slot empty Trouble is where do you find another Tyler ? And how expensive would they be if we found one? Remember he joined us on a uni deal so the cost you would normally pay for someone of his calibre was a fraction No easy answers here |

I just think players like Holder & Hampton won't be persuaded to stay again. The European venture probably attracted them but that won't be there again.
Which import don't I rate? Easy answer is Burnett. Not a team player and too profligate.

Hey, for once I agree with INF! Bernadini's were always going to be big shoes to fill. He was a talented, intelligent, tough player who had the uncanny knack of coming up with big plays at key moments. Charles Smith was another. They are both very difficult to replace, especially since they were not classed as imports.
Riders might find rebuilding a bit trickier than they think - it's not easy to start with and it looks like at least the London clubs and maybe even (with the new arena income) Eagles could be competing quite hard for talent. On the bright side, Nims might be available.

And just think a team rebuild would be made so so much harder should Lord Paternostra decide he'd like to try coaching somewhere else?

So replace Burnett and find a leader at same time plus we have a euro slot to bring in as well cant see how we would find better than Holder or Hampton (when he's fit and he's on form) hence big rebuild not my first choice |

I want both Hampton & Holder to stay but I'm doubtful they will. If I'm right and they leave that's a significant rebuild straightaway.
