Will Lions do the clean sweep? (00:30)
No. They'll come close but they'll come unstuck in the playoffs.
When do the Riders give up on the league and focus on the playoffs?
Not unless they lose again. They're only two losses behind Lions. All it takes is for one injury, or a daft loss and their right back in it.
Are Phoenix a dark horse for silverware this season? (13:27)
Is anyone really a "dark horse" this season? Just about every team has the beating of the others. If you take out the bottom 2-3 I think a cup win by any of the other 9 seems plausible. Lions and Rocks are the outliers left in the trophy. The other 4 are broadly similar.
What do Surrey need to beat Raiders on Sunday (18:40)
Any sign of complacency and I think they can capitalise. They're a bit more solid since Elechi and Williams came in. SSP was a difficult place to visit last season. I think they can get back to that. Raiders also have a tough game on the Friday night, which helps.
Which BBL team has the best frontcourt duo? (23:48)
Royals. Giants and Lions front courts also give food for thought.

1. Probably not. We're still a very long way from the finish line. Plenty of time left for Lions to suffer a significant injury, experience a poor patch of form... loss of confidence... some sort of adversity. And losses to Riders and an at the time very weak Raiders team are enough to make me believe they're not utterly invincible despite the very healthy position they currently find themselves in.
2. Late April/early May? Even after our poor result Sunday, Lions are not the 1/1000 shots that many seem to want to make them for the league. And what would 'focusing on the playoffs' really even entail at this stage? I'm confident we're still quite some way away from throwing the towel in. If Lions do get the league won inside the distance I expect we'll rest a few over the final week, but not before then.
3. Puncher's chance, along with eight or nine others.
4. Don't know or care really, to be honest.
5. Most talented front court in the league? Probably Royals though for a couple of relatively big names dropping down in standard, neither Hamilton nor Bryan-Amaning are tearing the BBL to shreds. Hamilton's numbers are ordinary so far and Royals have only gone 5-3 since he started playing. MBA's basic numbers look pretty good but his efficiency has been poor. He's 44th in the league in TS%, second to last in the league in 3P% (among players averaging 2 or more attempts per game) and only three players in the league are turning it over more.
Most influential front court in the league? Lions... by a distance. This Lions team actually isn't all that sensational offensively. Their success to this point has been built around defense and I'd suggest that Peel and Bristol are the linchpins. There's certainly no better rim protecting duo in the league.

Agree completely with your point about Peel & Bristol. They showed again how crucial they are in Sunday's final.

Here are the questions that we cover in this week's Makem Takem: Will Lions do the clean sweep? (00:30) Thanks for the show. Have downloaded and will listen later. Regarding Lions doing the clean sweep – Cup, Trophy, Championship, Play-Offs… I would absolutely love to see that happen. But although they’re on track for this they’re also not even close to achieving it just yet. I’d say it’s still a long shot, as it would likely be for any team at this stage. Will they win more than one title this season? I’d say that’s quite possible. But on this point, am I right in saying the only team to have ever achieved this clean sweep are Eagles, who have done it twice?

Think we might stop Lions in the playoffs You were adamant Riders would still win the league a few weeks ago… not so confident now?

But yeah, Eagles have done three since I think.

If Lions don't go on to win a second title, will they be deemed to have underachieved? Quite the change in expectations, if so.

Cup won Barring any upsets ... I see no reason why you shouldn't win the Trophy ( no Eagles/Riders)I suppose the question is, if Lions can hold their form till the end of the season (and beat Riders) ... Possibly the League ?Play offs is basically anybodies ... Whoever is in form at the time.I think Injuries could/will play a big part towards the back end of the season.Either way ... I expect Lions to at least get a double ... Which I think is quite respectable
Just my opinion ... but I'm usually wrong !! ... who knows !! ... we shall see !!

Haha, I knew I should have checked some stats before I posted. Going through my previous posts on this forum I had even said last season that Eagles have done it three times and Kingston Kings twice! But clearly I’d forgotten! As for Chester Jets, hmmm… I don’t think we can include them, winning the Northern Conference isn’t the same as winning the league in my opinion (but maybe I’m partly saying that because London Towers won the Southern Conference that season).

Chester win everything they entered. That's a sweep in anyone's world. Towers were reduced to fielding an ineligible player to hold off Leopards in the south. Kingston "only" did a treble in the year between their sweeps. If lions do win it all it'll be the first sweep to include the Essex Classic

Chester Jets did indeed win everything they entered, so it was a clean sweep for them, yes. But for me ‘the’ sweep is the Cup, Trophy, Championship and Play-Offs. I’m sorry, but they didn’t win the Championship. They beat all the teams in the North, but not all the teams in the country – as Eagles and Kings did with their sweeps. So can we honestly say Jets achieved the same as Eagles and Kings? For me, that’s a no.
