Isn't Coach of the Year announced prior to/award presented at the Playoff Final? If so, whoever wins the playoffs isn't able to be factored into the decision.

It's Vince's to lose. Royals, Rocks or Riders may yet throw a spanner in the works (As may Phoenix, but it doesn't begin with an R so i'm glossing over it).

If Giants, for example, won the playoffs then it'd certainly influence my "vote". It does make sense though. No point picking a winner and not being able to present it to him. Getting a picture at the coaches front door with the Yodel/DPD delivery driver and a damaged award doesn't quite cut it...

It may have changed, but I think I remember Coach Kapoulas getting presented his CotY award the last time the Eagles won the playoffs.

I think Vince will get it this year, but if Riders win the playoffs then RP might well be the man. If Riders only win the Play-Offs what has Rob actually done this season to deserve Coach of the Year? I'm not saying he's not a hugely successful coach, but this season (so far) has been far from his best. I'm inclined to agree with you, I have to say from a personal point of view i think Vince deserves it, Lions bagging some silverware has been a long time coming, even if the game itself wasn't exactly a classic. Riders have probably suffered a bit from the scheduling with their Euro adventure, that said there is still a way to go before the season is out.

Coach whose team wins the league deserves the COTY award - simple as that.

It's not even close. Ty Shaw. For having to coach a shyte team to near death, that was put together by people who think they know way more than they do. I was a teammate of Ty's way back in 2002 and they'll never find a better guy for the job. Hopefully the folks running Worcester actually let him put his team together this summer.

You’re assuming Ty will be invited back to Wolves. I have a feeling Tony G is about to take his job permanently...
