Claytons gone again according to FIBAstats. 2 fouls in first. Q sat down , 2 more in second sat down with 1 minute to go. Technical given off camera on Giants bench, something said to refs as leaving half time another T. .against Clayton. Statcast then showing Clayton on 5. " Where's my foot so I can shoot myself in it again?" Looks like Willie's talking/playing himself out of a new bigger contract next season with bigger teams???

So, Giants get a small win on the night, but Lions go through to the surprise of... pretty much nobody. Big final quarter from Giants - was anyone there/watching live to see if Lions took their foot off the gas? Did many venture into the Box for a midweek game?

Virtually all final quarter ( and some of third too) Lions gave starting 5 a night off to sit and watch the others play, all 12 players given time and almost all got points on the Board. Giants left Callum Jones to rest his leg and Willie already out of the action. A bit of defence played but not too much hence the score. Crowd wise impossible to tell with the crafty way the seats are coloured, there could have been 50 people watching and still look busy.

A decent crowd for a Thursday night particularly seeing as 1. It's Valentine's night & 2. It was hardly a fixture to get people excited given the lead. 2. Was less of an issue I think as many people probably had no idea about it being a 2 leg semi final, which makes it a little annoying that Lions didn't put more effort in for the win.
As for the game itself, Lions played all the 4th with at least 4 bench players & much of the 3rd with at least 3. With Clayton missing due to his own stupidity for the whole of the 2nd half, we should have had enough to hold the lead. Even in the 1st half there was a certain amount of 'exhibition' basketball going on, (I say this loosely as our flicks & tricks weren't always well perfected!) with some sloppy defense from Lions given how strong our d has been recently. It was good however to give plenty of rest to some of the starting 5, although I'm rather of the opinion that if you're playing well, enjoying yourselves & winning that you want to be on court as much as possible & you certainly don't want a defeat even if you've won the tie.

The more games the better for Lions It's the league that mattersPat you are due some key injuries to have to deal with Apart from Robinson which players would you miss the most if you did face a few injuries between now and the end of the season? Bullsh*t. The league may be the most prestigious title of the season, but it’s the number of titles a team wins each season that matters and you know it (because you’ve been saying so the last few seasons). Not me. I've always been one who says the league is by far the most important focus. Lions HAVE to win the league for this to be a great season for them. The rest are icing on the cake.

First trophy in ten or so years and a good chance at a second. It's already looking like a great season regardless of the league.

We can all have our opinions, but for me personally if Lions win Cup, Trophy and Play-Offs (but not the Championship) that would still be a GREAT season. In fact just the Cup and Trophy would be record breaking for the team, so still a great season. And just the Cup would still be pretty damn good. The Championship is the best of the lot, I agree, but your initial comment really sounded like a fan of a team who are already out of the Cup and Trophy, and a team who despite their great success in recent years have never been about to accomplish what Eagles have, the clean sweep.

A side point but I feel significant: Paul Guede playing 25:58 minutes, the most in a game this season. He'd previously only played 20 minutes twice this season, compared to last year when he was a starter and often playing around 30 minutes, having had surgery in the summer. It was smart of Vince to go with Guede as Spencer's replacement to offer more physicality. Having more to come off the bench (or as a replacement for those 'key injuries' I've read about) could be important down the stretch.

Success is relative. It's relative to so many factors that it's difficult to find consensus. Prior to last season, Lions were a pretty disappointing mediocre franchise. I feel as a Rocks fan I'm very well qualified to comment on disappointing mediocrities! For me, last season was a success. 2nd in the league, a final, and 2 semi-finals. Despite winning nothing, this was a big step forward. This season they've already bagged a trophy, may well get a second, and should at least equal their league placing. So this season is also a success in my opinion. Of course, the Lions hierarchy might have set them tougher targets - who knows?
