In the mean time ...Do Rocks have an assistant to take over from the ex-assistant.
2 weeks isn't a long time to fill the gap ... v Eagles 8th March (I think)

Surprised about the timibg. Very little opportunity for a coaching change to have much impact at this stage of the season without a complete overhaul of the roster which would be required in the post season. Clearly not targeting an existing bbl coach with track record - so is this the time Achara steps up into an official coaching role?

Got to be Andrew Sullivan surely? Good mates with Achara. He is (bizzarely given his lack of any coaching background) - assistant GB coach so would be keen to prove he can do so? Guy with no head coaching experience getting appointed by a club who've just realised they made a **** of it appointing someone with no head coaching experience? I get this. But why make the change now then, because a large proportion of the pool of experienced coaches are under contract

I wouldn't make the change now. The Rocks ballsed up their last realistic chance of silverware at the weekend. I would've held off 'til the end of the season.

Can’t see that. He has business interests in London and didn’t take the nix job for personal reasons. He’s still an advisor to the club as well. There again he did tell me he had no intention of leaving the jets then took the London job 48 hours later. I’d be really disappointed if he did take the rocks job

‘We part company on good terms’ says Smilie. I’m not sure Darryl will see it like that. I’d personally think a large bird had excreted on me from a big height. He pretty much got handed or was directed to involve the Scottish contingent in recruiting and then they appeared to distance themselves from the coach when things didn’t work out. Don’t recruit stand out players really!! Advise to which ever smuck takes the job don’t recruit Kieron or G next year! With Phoenix and Raiders no longer crazy gang of the bbl I’d like to thank Rocks and Wolves for picking up the mantle

If it is and with Tony L and defying g saying so makes me think there’s something in that My guess is there’d have to be a reasonable budget to tempt him back.

You have a point. It's been a year ( almost to the day) since Tony G left without explanation and Rocks appear to still be staggering along. It's easy to judge sitting on my sofa 250 miles away and not everything can be aired in public, but Rocks' fans deserve some kind of explanation about how this situation has been allowed to develop.

Poor decision. League form been good since turn of the year. 2 or 3 games in hand over the teams we should expect to be in and around.
Coach has had a ****e hand, Greg Pryor missed as many as he’s played, players take time to gel and get with the program.
Coach and General Manager away in a matter of days.
I think it’s a ****e decision and I’m no fan of Duncan Smillie but let’s see what he brings in.
So far all we’ve had from him is a few sponsors, claims of backing coaches then sacking them, Tony G shambles, appearances form some celtic reserves and complaints he can’t sell hot dogs.

Something for Gonk to consider ... perhaps changing... Annual "why is the final in Glasgow" thread ... to Annual "New coach required in Glasgow" thread Sorry Rock fans ... I couldn't resist edit Any bets on who will get the job in Feb next year

It’s not a good time to interview DS at the moment I don’t think. To be fair to him, he’s always very willing to do so. I think I might wait a couple weeks. I do plan on getting some other interviews though...

Good thought but I'd probably advise standing at least 2 or 3 clipboard lengths away when I asked him a question?

I'd like to know more about the Olson rumour. Could be wrong but I'm just not buying it.

www.mvp247.com/2019/02/rocks-with-wood/Until losses in both legs to the Royals and an overtime reverse at Newcastle last Friday, Glasgow had won 13 out of their previous 15 games. Not really sacking form is it?
