I don't know how I feel about this l
On one hand it's good to give a young man a second chance if he's learnt his mistake and maybe promises to under go regular testing to prove it was a one off
But the article smacks of his mates Watson and Rochford being the main issue and jawad just following them?

Know what you mean. Part of me thinks it's good of Plymouth to show forgiveness and to give someone the opportunity to learn. At the same time, it comes across, in some respects, as incredibly weak. I guess it's difficult to please everyone with this decision.

I think the thing here is that Jawad didn’t act in the way that Watson and Rochford did after the incident. He accepted his mistakes and punishment and didn’t try to blame everyone but himself! Hopefully he has learned from them and he truly does deserve this second chance!

Think he played at Cheshire. They've never had drug problems there.

But the article smacks of his mates Watson and Rochford being the main issue and jawad just following them? I don’t believe for a second that Adekoya was just following his mates in this incident. He will have smoked before, probably for a while and had just not been caught, that’s just the way it (most likely) is. That’s the way it normally is, at least. With that being said, if the teams/ league really wanted to stamp it out, they’d definitely do more. This subject isn’t just restricted to the BBL either- from being involved in basketball overseas in Europe for the past 5/6 years, continental leagues also have a number of players recreationally smoking weed. I hope to write a piece for a blog about the issue of weed use in basketball overseas soon, hopefully it’ll be able to give people food for thought on the topic and see it from a few different angles. I’ll make sure to post it here for anyone who may be interested. Long of the short, I’m happy to see him given a second chance at Plymouth. If the NBA as a whole doesn’t care about it (most examples are set from the very top) and European powerhouse teams such as Panathinaikos and Partizan Belgrade don’t care about it, as evidenced by the example of James Gist, then I’m not expecting Plymouth Raiders (or any other BBL team for that matter) to be the benchmark of professional morality regarding weed use.

I've made my thoughts clear many times over drug use and players. Giving someone a 2nd chance once they've done wrong I'm all for but I would hope the club had stipulations in his contract. At least he didn't blame the club for his wrong doing

Not particularly excited about this signing, he seemed pretty inconsistent last season, especially shooting, although was that because he was too busy lighting it up off court?

Didn't rate him to be honest. Bit of a role player that, on occasion, seemed to forget his role!? Out of the three players sacked, he wouldn't be my 1st, or infact my 2nd choice to return...

British basketball supporters seem to have an attitude towards weed use that may be at odds with the rest of the basketball world. Not saying that's a good or a bad thing, but it's something that may be difficult to square away mentally without an attitude change.

Has he not come in to replace the guy that’s gone back to Aus. Non permit. He averaged 10 a game last time, so that again would help for the rest of the season. Maybe he could “ light up the 3 point shooting”.

In all honesty the weed thing doesn't bother me one way or the other.
Fact of the matter is I think he'll be a decent pickup for Raiders. He'll be a contributor and its one more thing for an opponent to guard against. Are Raiders an outside shot for a good run in the playoffs? I wouldn't bet against it.

Raiders can beat all teams in this league on there day if the big four fire If they don't adekoya wells okiki and ubiaro isn't a bad bench but it lacks a scoring punch to make up for it!

Although I'm not sure the equivalent standard to where he is now...? He certainly seems more chilled!
