Danny has signed a new 3 year contract. Obvious choice really, hes done fantastic this year, can only see Manchester getting better and better under him.
Forgot to get a link but I'm sure someone more tech savvy will help

Agreed, seem to have a better idea about the type of USA imports they should go for, that plus a solid Mancunian link with the rest of the squad. However they still need to find a decent place for their home games, both their previous icebox and current home don't do the team justice. Can't see why a place/ time be arranged with the basketball centre in Manchester, apart from the usual complications of money, politics, availability, money, location and money.

And more politics.
Honestly its ridiculous.

Danny is doing a great job in a traditional BBL role. 3 decent Americans, 1 European and 2 Manchester old boys. How long James will continue who knows. Not the vision that Jeff Jones had but possibly more successful in league position. In fairness re the Manchester connection dosnt have the availability of that talent level that was about when Jeff reformed the giants. That says a lot of what has come out of magic in recent years. Still some very good juniors but maybe not what there was years ago.
Magic are still a formidable organisation but maybe not as strong as they once were. I don’t know their senior policy is anymore and it maybe that there isn’t the money to sustain the level of success they once had. That may link to Paul Middleton’s departure. Just speculation but possibly coincidental.
Giants don’t have a decent facility but very few clubs do but their junior set up is possibly stronger than magics at the younger age group but certainly not the distance they once were behind magic. If they could just break the drain of players to magic they potentially may overtake magic as the best male junior set up in the north.
If their coaches took on the regional roles of coaching north west that might help!

I’d agree with a lot of that however giants don’t have a girls set up. The Amaechi is a wonderful facility and could always give magic the edge imo. However Giants are getting kids through to England development selection. As Nixette days giants problem is keeping them from hoping magic. Anyone know why they changed the name? Personally think there’s enough ballers in Manchester to support both magic and giants. I actually think it helps magic as they need competitive games which they don’t get at the older age groups in the north bar Myerscough at under 18s

If ever there was a case of "if the glove fits" then that was it.
Leaves Magic because he was relying on yanks in EBL 1 and wanted to go BBL - Forber thinks the focus should be on youth development.
Goes to Giants - who don't have the option to bring in imports at the time - conveniently brands the Giants as an opportunity for young British talent. A Giants team that at the time had the two Jones brothers, Dave Aliu, Tin tin, Keith Page, Stef Gill, Yorick Williams, Nate Schall, Mike Bernard, Ben Eaves and Devan Bailey who were all established BBL players.
Who did he actually bring through? Nobody. He tried to bring in ex-Jet Jayson Obazuaye (hit with visa issues), got Iker and Ingus but yet wanted it to be a base for young brits. Not buying it.
Danny however is on course for Giant's most successful season since the rebrand - he works his bollocks off and deserves the new contract 100%. Still a great shout for Coach of the year for me.

Do t get me wrong I fully support Danny and he deserves what he’s achieved. My comment about non brits isn’t a criticism Think you’re harsh on Jeff. I guess it just depends on whether you believe what he said about giving a platform for home grown talent. Yes they were all established players but does any BBL team bring through young talent? That all take established players. Very rare for any bbl team to do that at the moment.
Didn’t Stu Tomson, Mo Williams and Alan Minster all kit out in that period as well. Also if Jeff has the time for 10 years without bringing anyone through fair criticism but was it 3 years he was head coach? I’m told he did a lot for the juniors when he was involved.
