You won't be amazed to learn that I wish it was a bit tighter at the top between Riders and Lions. In reality London have proved themselves to be the best team this season by some margin. Think the league is more interesting/exciting when results are a little less predictable.

Think the league is more interesting/exciting when results are a little less predictable. I keep seeing this sort of comment, even Dan R said in recent commentary it’s a shame we don’t have a Championship title battle this season (in the same way we currently do lower down the table). Maybe I’m just naturally pessimistic (ok, there’s no ‘maybe’ about it, I am) but I think the Championship title battle is much closer than most are saying. As I write this (Weds morning), yes, Lions are now just 4 straight wins away from the title. But there’s only a total of 6 games remaining. If Lions lose just one of these next 4 games it requires them to win at least 1 of their final 2 games against Eagles and Riders. This is assuming Riders don’t make it easier for us for losing another game or 2 of course. There’s a few reasons I’m nervous… including the fact that 2 of our remaining ‘home’ games aren’t really home games – they’re at the UEL SportsDock, which adds a degree of uncertainty for me. Also, no team in the BBL as I write this is are on a winning streak – no team has currently won more than 1 game in a row, with the exception of Riders who have won 2. Don’t get me wrong, Lions must still be favourite for the title, but it makes me nervous when people talk as though it’s a done deal.

Eagles last game of the season is Lions, so if Eagles are not in the fight for 2nd, then it is effectively a dead game. that being the case, Fab may choose to rest key players for that game in preparation for the play-offs. Lions grab a easy 2 points. This could (hypothetically speaking) decide the league ... go figure. ...but of course, all of this is just pure speculation, but would make for an interesting conspiracy theory talking point. On that note ... Who said the fight at the top is not exciting ? .... Hmmm!! ... Just saying

Getting back to the original title ' everybodys beating everybody' Without me sounding like broken record that's stuck (Think I've been saying this on here for over 10 years) I believe its down to scheduling. I cant remember a single season when Mar/Apr NOT being crazy, Sometimes its just insane!! Alot of Teams are playing catch up ... I believe its as simple as that (am I wrong? feel free to post, no doubt you will!! ) With some teams literally playing every other day, both fatigue and injury plays a major part in a teams losing/winning streak. Do I have a solution ?, Possibly !! , but that's a story for another thread I think (maybe later, If I forget, feel free to start one) Anyways, my 2 penneth ... Peace out

Just saying Good point about Eagles… if their position has been determind before the game on 26/4 then it could be an easier win for the Lions. On a similar note, the Lions/Riders game on 28/4 will either be the battle to end all battles if we’re in a position where the winner of the game also takes the Chanpionship title, or the dullest of dullest games if the title and positions have already been decided. The way things currently stand the Championship title won’t be decided any sooner, or later, than the final week of the re season. For me, that’s quite exciting.

So can anyone explain why the BBL cram so many matches into March/April, and why the number of games played varies so much between teams during the season ?

So can anyone explain why the BBL cram so many matches into March/April, and why the number of games played varies so much between teams during the season ? I don’t think it’s intentional. The explanation I’ve personally come to use is that teams postpone scheduled games in preparation for Cup and Trophy games in Dec/Jan/Feb/Mar that were somewhat impossible to plan for (not knowing when, or if, you’d be required travel to and play a quarter, semi, or final game). It takes time to mutually rearrange these so ultimately you end up playing them in March and April, along with the games previously scheduled. I don’t think that’s a definitive reason, but I certainly think it accounts for a number of them.
