Justin RobinsonGreat Britain guard Justin Robinson will hang onto his prestigious crown after being voted Molten BBL MVP for a second consecutive season. http://instagr.am/p/Bxjl8mQlc2Q Last season’s winner of the gong was given the thumbs up again for the 2018-19 edition after the Londoner led Lions to a historic first ever BBL Championship triumph. He also inspired his team to BBL Cup success in front of a huge crowd at Arena Birmingham back in January. Adding to his places in both the Molten All-British Team of the Year and the Molten BBL Team of the Year, Robinson was the runaway winner in the voting by BBL clubs. His play at both ends of the floor have impressed throughout the campaign – lighting it up as the second top scorer in the BBL with an outstanding 19.2 points per game. Helped by a near 40% return from long-range, Robinson also handed out 4.9 assists, grabbed 3.6 boards and snapped up 1.4 steals per outing. “I’m honoured that the majority of coaches voted for me,” stated Robinson. “For them to hold me in high regard and take notice of my talent and leadership is definitely flattering. “It means more this year with silverware part of it to add that extra sense of satisfaction. I think it’s true testament to a great team year, so I’m thankful for all my team-mates and coaching staff. “Overall, the season was a success for us – our goal was to win all four trophies but we came up short in the Trophy then losing in the first round of the Play-Offs. “We still made history, winning the Cup and the club’s first-ever league title. Everyone came together with the common goal, we played together, enjoyed being around each other and that translated onto the court,” he concluded.

Second year in the row he's won it. Well deserved this season.
Last season on the back of a treble I'm convinced the right winner should have been Tyler Bernardini
We've seen how hard he is to replace and what he brought to Riders and BBL since he's gone
That's what an MVP is all about IMO
Similarly when we won league in Drew's first season back he should have been league MVP
He was the game changer for us that season to win us the league.
This season without doubt it's Robinson who's knitted Lions together and helped secure them their two trophies

Unsurprising decision. Congratulations - quite an achievement two years in a row. Vince will be signing a bigger salary cheque next season I imagine.

I normally agree the best player on the best team should be mvp hence why I feel Giannis is the.nba mvp but look at dontes numbers totally unstoppable against the lions

Carried us to wins we wouldn't have had. When we needed a rebounder he was that guy, when we needed someone to score he was that guy, when we needed someone to flop around like a fish and get Robinson fouled out, he was that guy. Without him were fighting not to finish bottom

Not convinced. I reckon you're still somewhere between 10-14 wins without him (replaced by a decent import). He's been outstanding but I can't say Robinson getting the MVP is an injustice.
Without Robinson Lions would've won the square root of FA. Not even a top 4 team without him.

Yes, but that's kind of the point. Ogo and Robinson are both point guards with an excellent (not decent) level of skill and European level experience. If you swap Robinson out then there's still a good chance that Ogo has the skill and the organisational ability to marshal Lions properly. You're swapping like for like. Then we'd be talking about why Ogo is the MVP and not Nicholas.

Interesting view, which I half share. I think Lions team this season is strong enough to be a top 4 team without Robinson. But I don't think we would have won the Championship without him. And perhaps not the Cup either.

I think we agree, we just disagree on how cohesive a unit they'd be without him. I think enough to be a top 4 team, but not win the Championship or Cup. You don't, which is fair enough.

Do Royals win anything this season? Take Robinson from Lions and give them Donte instead. Do Lions still win the league? Replace Tyler with Donte in last years Riders team? Do we still win three trophies last season? Im thinking more "nos" than "yesses" above Exciting player but does he deliver trophies to those teams. Does he just get the best from himself or does he bring the whole team together. Isn't that what MVPs deliver. Great individual players but more than that - they make the whole team tick.

I'm going with my default 6th place! I suppose it would all depend on who they had instead...

Add donte to this riders team would probably be enough to win it all would have added that extra playmaker and that little bit of grit you were lacking like you had with drew Sullivan coming off the bench

Donte wouldve made riders champions, hes the go to man they haven't been able to replace
I chose ogo as he hasnt played in 2 years, maybe a bad option. Devon Van OOstrum them maybe? Still say lions win.
Its probably only helped our chances of re signing him to be honest

Seeing as Conner is getting most of the PG minutes anyway now. It definitely improves us. But not sure he would have the freedom he gets at Raiders with us. We play a different type of game. He would have to be less individual and that's where he shines. I would definitely swap Robinson for Brandon Clark and expect to win the league with a bit to spare. As much because of how it weakens Lions at same time of course.

"Maybe swap him for Brandon Clark."
You think Raiders would accept that swap?! We needed Nicholas's scoring skills so often this season. Clark never provided that. Want a different PG import next season, not Clark.

I don't disagree with the decision. Congratulations to Justin, he's had a great season and has been very influential on the Lions success! It usually comes from a top 2 or 3 team.
I'm just not sure without him, the Lions really suffer that much. Spencer has been awesome and proved more than sufficient cover for Justin. Tabb has been pretty underrated and just as important to the Lions success, as has Peel. That's already a loaded squad, talent wise!
I don't buy that the Lions win nothing without Justin... Less maybe! But you could say that about any key player in any squad in the BBL, such is the nature of our league.
I would add, that without Donte Nicholas, the Raiders probably finish dead last! Hassan is a solid performer and Wilcher has been great, but that's about it! Payne was very inconsistent... Donte averaged the most minutes in the league, as well as top 10 or higher in multiple stats. Plus the trip dubs!! However, the team didn't have great regular season success, which maybe doesn't deserve reward.
