Was chatting on Sunday to a couple of Royals and and the subject of a merger between Lions and Royals cropped up. Anyone heard this? May make sense I suppose- alternate games at Cooper Box and Crystal Palace. Mixture of Lions experience and Royals money may make Wuropean basketball work?

London United are already a team playing in the national league.
Lions wouldn't merge, theres literally no upside for them

Heh... Read the title and assumed London United were merging again...
Really hope this *isn’t* true. I’ve long been of the opinion that London needs a true rivalry to push the sport forward there, and feel the Trophy final was a good indication of that.

The real crux of the matter is that Royals splashed out the full whack to buy a BBL franchise, why would they throw it away after just a year?

As the purveyor of rumours and utter bollocks I should be excited about this. However, on the face of it I'm seeing a Riders fan having a conversation with a couple of Royals fans about the general idea of a merger. No gossip, no rumours, no chance.
Of course, if a couple of teams had been spending more than they earn and needed a way to downsize then that'd be different. Not sure either are keen to do that.

And you're assuming Fozzie isn't just a fictional character created by a 42-year-old man with a bushy ginger beard

So now the chance to "out" Fozzie. Were you those couple of Royals who were discussing a possible merger with" someone else" ? Did he/she have a ginger beard or long blonde hair or bald? Come to think of it there is possibly only one Royals person on this site so the chances of this happening is pretty remote. Ah well the search goes on!

Oh, I didn't talk to the common people - good chat with the impeccably dressed Vince, though - but I still know it's BS. Bit like the character called Fozzie

The real crux of the matter is that Royals splashed out the full whack to buy a BBL franchise, why would they throw it away after just a year? And why not just bring that investment to Lions a year ago instead of going to the bother of setting up a new franchise? Not giving this any more oxygen.
