Maxime Djo EbalaThe Radisson Red Glasgow Rocks have secured the services of French big man Maxime Djo Ebala for the 2019/20 BBL Season. The Frenchman has spent the last four seasons playing in France including two seasons under the leadership of current Rocks Coach Vincent Lavandier. And the newest member of the Rocks arrives in Glasgow to another familiar face in Gareth Murray, having played together with French side Angers in the 2015-16 Season. Upon signing, Maxime said: “I am very happy to come to Glasgow and wear the colours of the Rocks this year. I am looking forward to arriving in Scotland and starting this new adventure” And Coach Lavandier was delighted to reunite with Maxime in Glasgow: “My desire was to densify our racket compared to last year. My choice was to recruit a tall player who is very mobile, with a big wingspan that will be the perfect complement to Ali at the 5 Position. What better way to finish recruitment than to get a Frenchman!! Maxime played with Gareth under my orders in France. He is a team player, a hard worker, with good hands and an outside shot. He is also able to change the vision of a match by his defensive actions & his energy. I’m happy to add Maxime to my team. He is a man of confidence for a whole team, a whole staff. Bienvenue en Ecosse Maxime.”

Sounds very promising - A known quantity for the Coach and he played with Gareth.. However I lived (just) through the debacle of Daniel Northern who promised so much and (imho) delivered so little. The new guy has big boots to fill with Kieron no longer at the Rocks.

How does one 'densify a racket'? Still a Euro slot left to use but it sounds a lot like Rocks are done now? If that's the case I can't say I'm too impressed. Last season's overseas contingent was among the worst in the league in my view but I don't really see this lot being any better. Anyone's guess how good Pepper may or may not be but he can't have been too bullish on his pro prospects if he was willing to put pen to paper with a BBL club in May. The new French guy doesn't look to have pulled up too many trees in NM1 the last four years. And the two established Americans were both pretty underwhelming last season. British core looks weaker too without Achara. Lavandier did a good job with a pretty ordinary bunch last season but I'm not sure he's made life any easier for himself this time around. If Rocks are successful next season I think it'll be on the strength of his coaching not his recruitment.

I agree. We seem to have recruited a bit backwards. Im not sure overly sure where our points will come from as unless fraser malcolm has turned into tadas with his 3 pt shot and the imports appear to be of the same standard im not sure what to expect. With coach signing some od his past players its definitely more a european basketball approach.
Suppose wait and see but at the moment we are the best team in the league...
