Is there less league games this season for each team? and is the BBL Cup more or less a pre-season tournament like the Trophy used to be.

In 34 years of supporting Cambridge United (jeez, I need help) I don't think I have ever heard a discussion about rowing. Obviously we all when the opposition sing songs about the Boat Race.

Im about to leave the house to go and see the game against Ipswich. No talking about rowing at that way. Its all about towns and gowns.

Wonder if this new idea of the Cup being " local", as the first 5 away games will involve the closest teams to your home club it could encourage more away supporters to travel to games. I always love the extra atmosphere when teams have a sizeable following making a noise ( not forgetting the extra ticket sales). On the other hand for some people it's 'only' the cup?

If you live by Parker's Pieces basketball is surprisingly close at hand. As far as I know the only half decent courts in town are at Kelsey Kerridge. Certainly where the blues team practiced in the 80s (and no, we didn't discuss rowing either).

I’ve never seen basketball here or heard anyone talk of any happening. I resigned myself to travelling to London to see any.

No, between Leopards, kids basketball and being stortford's press officer, I'm an occasional fan these days. I have the joys of a return trip to Portsmouth for Euro camp on Sunday.

Have you ever ventured to a football game at Ely or Histon. I was thinking about going to a non-league game outside of Cambridge but don't have many ideas yet.

I've been to Histon a few times. The "improvements" needed when they were in Conference Premier ruined it a bit. Cambridge City are sharing there this season, so there will be a game there every Saturday this season. Histon are at Stortford in a pre-season friendly on Saturday if you're feeling adventurous. Never been to Ely. Saffron Walden's nice - though tough by train - with a decent crowd and ground for their level.

I think I'll go up to Histon one weekend and see either them or Cambridge City seeing as its walking distance from my flat.
