My third and last game going to see the Lions was tonight! I took some friends even and we left at half time. What a waste of time and money. They had a floor with crazy lines, an abysmal experience and were selling fake NBA merchandise in the lobby!!!!
For this to be the best London team and the shining example of British basketball is just insane. Total garbage this time around.
I came. I saw. I went! Never again!

Rightly or wrongly, not all the excess lines were covered tonight because the game wasn’t being broadcast. I understand there were some sound issues in the arena tonight too? Out of interest, what do you think makes Royals’ game nights a better experience then Lions?

Actually starting to think this account is just on a wind up now.
I wouldn’t go to a country with no football culture, rock up to watch the local team and moan that it’s not as good as it is in England.
Get a grip. Or, better, just watch a different sport here if you want to see the height or professionalism.

Possibly, though there are a number of college/university students around with this kind of attitude/expectations to life so it's not implausible that it's real.

To put the argument into perspective here, its like going to an MLS game and thinking you're going to get a premier league atmosphere. Instead you get:

I think "fight and win" would have a different meaning in English football

To put the argument into perspective here, its like going to an MLS game and thinking you're going to get a premier league atmosphere. Instead you get: No a good comparison. MLS is a real business even though soccer is not yet fully engrained in American culture. And the worst MLS team has more attendance per game than probably the totality of the BBL. No looking to pick fights on here, just expressing my frustration. That situation I witnessed last night was DIRE! And not worth my time or money. Period.

Its nowhere near an NBA level or top level NCAA Playing standard here, so coming to see a game with that expectation is the same as going to an MLS game with the expectation of an atmosphere similar to that of the Premier league.
I mean I can quite understand why you didn't like it, no qualms there.

It is a good comparison tho. Attendancea are tricky tho, only the worst attended premiership team last season had fewer fans than the largest nba attendanced game.
BBL is also a business but it's a business without capital investment. The mls has had billions thrown at it to become success. Just imagine the bbl signing one of the best players in the world like the mls did with Beckham.

You went to lions and think it’s not as good as the nba or ncaa?? What’s wrong with you?! I can’t believe you think the apparel available is rubbish when there’s such a thriving market for it here!
I can’t really believe you find either of the above surprising, however I am surprised you left a 5 point game at half time as a basketball fan. There were a few former NCAA D1 players there too so it wasn’t as shoddy as you’re alluding to however I do agree it’s more akin to semi pro (best film ever btw) with more lines on the court than nba.

Suggest you pay a visit to Leicester or Newcastle. Admittedly a long way to go for a night out!

Thank God he never went to the Trafford Soccer Dome or whatever it was called. Maybe their in house commentator would of won him over - I’m sure the NBA don’t have anybody who can compete with him. I noticed he’s still at it during last Friday’s game against Phoenix. A repertoire of ‘Giants’ (repeat x 24) and ‘Deeeeeeefence’ (repeated to an even greater level this season.)

If that happened I would buy a season ticket just to hear it every week and commute from Liverpool.

Agree with all of that. If the stench of basketball kit is ignored (what did happen to Fozzie?), even the slightest amount of research (by an apparently intelligent person) would have ended any illusions that he was going to get an NBA or NCAA experience. And while I know Americans regularly leave games - especially blowouts - early, I'm also struggling to believe he'd leave a five-point game at half-time. I'm off to check under a few bridges.
