Really shocked at this one but very pleased they're continuing to sign elite british players. They could become a serious threat if they're coached this year. ***NEW Signing**** Andrew Lawrence joins London City Royals for the new season!!! The current GB guard honed his skills whilst a scholar at the College of Charleston, SC from 2009-2013. In his penultimate year, he had the honour of playing in the 2012 London Olympics, taking the title of the youngest member of the squad. He has featured as a key player in some of the most respected leagues in Europe, including Croatia, Spain, France and Italy. His on-court savvy, crafty gameplay and shooting prowess have been the subject of consistent praise throughout his career. He will be eager to make an explosive impact on the league playing with the Royals this season! ecs.page.link/P1XPt

It's probably me & perhaps I have an unrealistic expectation of his quality but I've always felt a little disappointed whenever I've seen him play! Still a big, positive move from Royals and great for the BBL.

Love to see the Royals’ budget! Or maybe I’m just jealous!

Wow a statement signing from the Royals, pretty quiet all summer and then they pull this one out of the bag.
Am surprised the Riders and Eagles haven’t been able to sign this calibre of player or is it just because it’s in London.

I suspect a combination of London and budget

Shame all the success both clubs have built up over the years and still can’t attract these calibre of players.
I mean besides not being in London they offer great packages that would be very attractive to players. But I guess for a player that has played in various countries, the chance to play in their home town in front of their family and friends on a weekly basis and earn a decent wage is a big draw.
Well done to the Royals on once again bringing top quality Brits to the BBL, only team bar the Lions that has done it really and is good for the league.
But Eagles and Riders have a better fan base and own their own arenas so all is good lol, just saying.

Eagles & Riders will both still exist in 5 years time - Royals wont. I'll take that.

Yet Riders hammered Royals in the Playoff Final despite not paying anywhere near the wages or making anywhere near the losses Royals made last season We must be doing something right??

I wonder with their new coach and if they are splashing the cash again whether this season they will be challenging Riders/Eagles/Lions for top dog status? Much too inconsistent last season.

Having a coach that coaches the team really helps. That's why we could come back from a 20 point deficit at half time to win

This is a very good signing to be fair. This team missed a floor general last year (and structure in general to be honest despite the obvious talent) so what do they go and do - get one of the top home grown point guards in.
Still don't think they'll be here in 4 years time, but lets see how it pans out in the interim.

Simply follows type based on last season. Definitely needed and will make them as competitive as last year and maybe a little more consistent. Feeling is they will be nearly fans again on that budget of theirs.

I just googled him and see he is 29.....I recall coaching against teams he played on as a junior and even worse playing against his Dad (a chastening experience!). I am getting old :-)
Great signing for Royals.
