British Basketball All-Stars MVP Jordan Williams signs with Worcester Wolves
Worcester Wolves have added more home-grown talent to their roster with the signing Jordan Williams.
The 6ft 8 British Forward was a standout performer at the 2018 British Basketball All-Stars Championship helping to lead Surrey Scorchers to the Trophy and being awarded tournament MVP.
Jordan has a wealth of BBL experience from his time with Surrey Scorchers and last season averaged 11 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
Head Coach Matt Newby is very pleased his latest signing.
“Signing Jordan is a move I feel brings strength and versatility to our forward line. He has a strong pedigree and I feel with this opportunity greater responsibility.”
I feel as a young domestic player he has a accrued a good understanding of the dynamics of BBL and what it takes to be successful.
He is dynamic and athletic with the ability to guard multiple positions and we will be looking for high output from the outset.”
Jordan is excited to get started with the Wolves.
“Looking forward to coming in and starting with a fresh team to see what we can achieve, with the talent we have and the Wolf Pack behind us, it will be a great year.”

He absolutely torched the Sharks last year. Wolves look like they are bouncing back

Pretty clear now that Worcester/ Newby are assembling an impressive looking squad. Look to me like a genuine threat if they can assemble sufficient depth.

And so should Riders. But they didn’t. We don't have a dire need for young athletic GB players like you do

Surprised & happy to of signed Jordan up. For the first time in years Wolves have signed a core of English players, which must be a good thing. 👍👍
We still have a European spot + an import spot available so, I'll be interested to see if both are used.

I'm told Wolves are going down the no expense spared route this summer.

I didn't think that they have been particularly limited with budget(within BBL clubs) over the last few years, they just haven't always spent it very well. Id say they're probably within the top 6 for budget most years & often higher.

Looks like according to the local press the majority of the players are already in the city. Different to last year at this time!
No sign of any big centre(s) / notable rebounder(s) as yet though? Surely this will be the key to our season.
As to budget I often wondered as our crowds are consistently good how much goes to the playing budget. £12 to £15,000 income each match at a guess - I know there is a salary cap however but don't know how it operates.

Re salary cap - Royals don’t know how it operates either.....

I'm not sure about"no expense spared" but for sure the experience of last season has prompted a major strategic re-think, particularly around recruitment. Wolves should be back on form this season.
