That's what comes of beating NN's Worthing all those years ago for Eagles' first trophy. Congratulations Fab and thanks for all those memories since - you'll always be welcome on Tyneside. Meanwhile Paul how on earth do we follow Fab .

As a raiders thank **** for that!! My earliest memories were watching raiders dominate and get spanked by the eagles each time!
That being said..... Well done Fab deserve this for years of producing dominant teams!
I can't help think this was known though and contingency plans are in place

Am in shock, don’t know what to do with myself.
What a guy he is, an Eagles legend, a north east legend, a British Basketball legend. Gonna miss him so much, my heart is broken.
Really proud of him and the opportunity he is getting and all the best to him in Toronto, what an achievement to now be an assistant coach in the NBA, he deserves it. Happy for him.
So gutted we didn’t get to say goodbye and have a real send off, now let’s get that #20 jersey retired and hanging in the rafters of the ECA.
Raptors are lucky to have him and the fans over their don’t even know it, the NBA is lucky to have him.

Wouldn't be surprised if Charles Smith makes a return to take over

Well that's a shock.
That's a great opportunity for him that he had to take
There's also a great opportunity now at Eagles for somebody to take

What’s Peter Scantlebury doing these days - it would be good to replace one MBE coach with another !

Thanks for many, many, many years of epic battles with our Riders, Fab is definitely a absolutely BBL Legend and I agree the #20 must be retired and hung from the rafters, I really hope that the Eagles organisation sort out a testimonial game for him, I’d love to attend that.
I wish him best of luck in his new adventures in the NBA and hope it’s not the last time we see him in this country Goodbye Fab........Thanks.

Gutted to be losing him but what an amazing opportunity.
IRF looks very foolish calling Fab now.... is Sir Rob working with a NBA playoff champion team?

Wow. Firstly, nobody rejects that opportunity and I think it was gonna happen for him one day, the guy can read a players movements like nobody I’ve ever known and that alone probably won him half the battle.
Second, has to go down as one of the best BBL “people” of all time, player and coach.
Thanks for everything Fab, it’s been a pleasure.

Naive? You’ve literally earlier today said he doesn’t know how to coach or develop teams. That sure sounds like an NBA assistant coach

Well you’re wrong because you totally dismissed Fabs coaching ability and say Robs a better coach but who’s now coaching in the NBA?
