Should we be worried that their appears no headline title sponsor for the Raiders this year? I note Richard, via LinkedIn, is seeking a title sponsor stating "due to unforeseen circumstances we have the very rare opportunity to welcome a new title sponsor to the club for the first time in over a decade". The use of "unforseen circumstances" suggests someone took their eye off the (basket)ball. I don't know the value to Raiders of a title sponsor in assisting with their running costs but let's hope it's not too detrimental for the season.

Marjons name was evident at Raiderdome but Plessey wasn't.

Think you'll find that Plessey told the club a while ago they would not be sponsor this season.
Think its probably more down to someone in particular taking their eye off the ball.
I imagine its a considerable sum of money. As i pointed out in another thread - the lack of sponsorship is probably why the team has been put together so cheaply this year.
The front of the kit is even lacking Marjon's logo (been moved to a less prominent position on the back), so perhaps they have scaled back their involvement too.
The Raiders home court used to have loads of logos on it - sometimes there were too many and it looked a bit of a mess. But it pointed to more income to the club than the current kit and home court points to this season. A reduction seemingly in the number of advertising boards around the court too? what have the club been doing this summer other than getting someone to develop a new website that was out of date all summer.
Oh dear. It seems the Rocks fans arent the only ones who have cause to be concerned about the 'service' fans are getting from the club as opposed to previously.

Sadly I don't think these are the only clubs in that situation. Apologies if I make this post every year, but few if any clubs are making money year on year. I imagine for a substantial chunk of the franchises the primary aim is simply about making it to the end of the season in tact.

Burt's crisps (a brand on the upward trajectory) appear not to have sponsored a player, though their crisps were given out at season ticket meeting earlier in September!
Hope if someone had taken eye off ball then they have learnt from mistake. Have Raiders contacted the new multi-complex the "Barcode" that is due to open soon or The Range stores for sponsorship. the Barcode Raiders or Range Raiders have a ring about it!
I really hope that suffient income is generated for the Raiders to cover costs and to help Richard and Ross's investment into the club.

If im not mistaken Burts had a logo on the court, on the kit and they did the children meeting the referees before the game too. All seems to have gone.

But isnt it sad that a 'professional' league has to rely on favours from volunteers to run? Either the business support isnt there anymore, or they have the wrong people working there or running the club.

You really are a strange season ticket holder looking for fault.
Do some research and you'll realise plessey was taken over by someone new who doesnt have an interest in basketball perhaps.
Business sponsor sports, if business want to stop they stop, doesnt mean the clubs are in turmoil.

Where have i ever said im a season ticket holder?
Plessey havent been taken over. They simply have a CEO that joined them back at the start of the new year. Thsts quite a difference.
Im just concerned at a worrying decline across the club.

Well you complained about the game which was only open to season ticket holders so it would make sense that you're a season ticket holder.
It's not different tho is it, ceo says no it's a no still

Looking at wibblywobblys posts he knows far too much detail to not be a raiders guy And tbf to him the things he has highlighted have got to be a concern both on and off the court. He's made about 8 posts to date and they all highlight things he or she is worried about. But all seem valid concerns to me? You can accuse him of not being a fan but being a fan isn't just about being a cheerleader all of the time If you spot concerns then it's not being anti your club to raise those concerns He's raising some valid concerns for you guys from what I can see, about sponsors and about your current playing squad Hopefully raiders management have some alternate sponsors lined up but tbh once you've got good sponsors ideally you keep them all and just add to them rather than having to replace them I hope you guys sort it out as we need raiders to be a strong and solid club for the sake of BBL But you guys shouldn't shoot the messenger here just because what he's saying isn't as positive as you would hope. reading his posts to date has got me a bit worried about the situation at your club tbh. At a time when we should want all clubs to be moving forward together.

That makes sense - I would say many sponsorships in BBL aren't for business reasons but purely because someone at the business enjoys basketball or supports the club. If the new guy isn't a basketball fan it would be hard for him to justify any investment from a business point of view only And clearly that's a blow to the club regardless of whether they could have done anything about it or not

While I do agree with you to the extent that we can not always be happy with our club or team but when you fail to see any positiveness constantly obviously it will make others question. I’m all for praising good ignoring the bad unless dangerous and right now I do not think Raiders are at that point! So what team do you actually support? Or are you perhaps just a basketball kit?! He's only joined the forum last week and has only made 8 posts ish tbf and it's at the start of a season when he's spotted things he's worried about compared to last season. And in this thread he was actually replying to another raiders poster with the same concerns. If he'd been negative like this for 8 months it might be different. But right now he's worried and he's said why he's worried and it seems fair enough to me. And like I say it was another poster who actually raised concerns about losing your headline sponsor that he replied to I genuinely wish you guys the best of luck this season and hope it doesn't impact you too much

Sounds exciting and very promising That link also gives the impression one of the partnerships at least is with a Chinese organisation ? Unless it's co-incidence he's come back from there with positive news
