This will probably be a rather unpopular post, but so be it!
7 years ago I had much the same opinion about the lack of highlights and TV coverage that was coming out of Worthing Thunder, an opportunity that basketball clubs ought not to miss out on.
So here we are 7 years on, and for the last 7 seasons I've volunteered to provide the above for the club. Maybe rather than posting on Whatsbev about the lack of social media posts from your club, you could use the same time to offer your services and make the world a better place?
As I said, probably going to be an unpopular opinion!!

No, that's a completely fair post
Only issue is, do the club want the help
I've saw it in ice hockey where people have offered their help but have either been ignored or turned down

I think it also comes down to how much the club values its helpers and volunteers I can't speak for other BBL clubs, but the volunteers that work behind the scenes at Eagles are probably the best in the league. They are highly valued by the club (they always given awards at the end of season parties) and they all know that they are fully respected by Paul B. and the Players. Eagles pretty much have all of the bases covered, it truly is a well run slick machine that works. (....end platitude ) The reason I say this is that over the years I've been posting on whatsbev, people on here have continually stated how they have gone above and beyond for their club, only to end up being treated like sh1te. Do I have a solution ... err!! ... No ... just an opinion

If I gave up at stuff because I wasn't successful first time, I'd probably have more free time on my hands right now!

It seems that whoever is conbasketball kiting the League account forgot to switch to their personal account. At least we can tell they are a Brexiteer with who they've retweeted, Julia Hartley Brewer, that woman who hounded Greta is one of them. Totally unprofessional behaviour Jeez. This is why I don't do Twitter. Well, that and Billy Turley' s coke habit

Totally unprofessional behaviour Everyone makes mistakes, but I’ll admit a professional sports organisation accidently re-tweeting some fairly strong political views is very embarrassing for those involved and those who follow it. At least the BBL were quite quick to remove the tweets and issue a statement.

As I said, probably going to be an unpopular opinion!! It’s a fair point, and if I had the video editing skills and software to do so I’d happily produce 10 minute game highlights for the team I support (Lions). What frustrates me is that in this modern age having 10 minute highlights of each game on YouTube should be a priority. Live coverage is great, and being able to watch it on-demand is also great, but the BBL could utilise that coverage even better and get even more eyeballs on the league if they did game highlights too. They clearly have people within the organisation who could produce such highlights (they produce weekly ‘Top 10 Plays’ videos and occasional promotional videos) and they now have footage of all games available to them, but they obviously don’t see it as a priority I guess. By the way, your highlights of Worthing Thunder games are excellent. Even more impressive considering you’re actually recording the game too, not just editing a video file provided to you (as would be happening with a BBL team). I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you’d be a credit to any BBL team (as you are to Worthing).

Highlights aren't difficult to produce, making some fancy on screen graphics to make it look more professional could be a bit harder. But in general, if one can post on Whatsbev, one could probably put together some highlights. I should clarify, that I'm making general remarks here, rather than suggesting any one person should offer their time for free to do a certain job for a club. I think the OP was referring in general to clubs, rather than their own. I'm not suggesting that they should be updating other club's FB pages etc!

We are spoilt as Flyers fans. Riders very good too. Rocks was too...what’s happened? I couldn’t agree more the whole club/fan interaction at Bristol cannot be faulted.

Just a little update on my original comments! Giants now have reports and videos on their website. Royals have managed to get the score on the fixtures page but apart from that you'd never know they played a game last Sunday. Rocks haven't even managed the scores from last weekend! Whilst I appreciate that people use Facebook/Twitter & Instagram to get the immediate details, there still needs to be a place where you can access up to date information and details about games etc. in one place, where you can easily check back on previous games/results. Rocks & Royals are both pretty awful this season in all media areas, which is strange given they were two of the better ones last year.

The BBL are looking to recruit a Head of Communications to lead their new marketing communications strategy, which will include providing guidance and support to clubs on communication matters... Anyone fancy the job? www.bbl.org.uk/vacancy-head-of-communications-bbl-2/

But it's good to see they are at least trying to improve as this is a new position they've created, not just to replacing someone who's left.

It's a remarkably short job description and there's a lack of clarity on how much experience is needed. I'll go for the Rocks' job instead

Random question, I know the clubs have to pay an initial franchise fee to the league but after that is there an annual payment that the clubs have to make? New clubs join so rarely and there was no league sponsor for so long I'm just wondering how the BBL covers its ongoing costs.

I’m not sure if clubs pay some kind of annual fees, but I was under the impression the Cup/Trophy/Playoff finals generate most of the BBL’s operating revenue?

Think this is a big part of the overall problem (no .... sherlock) I've seen the BBL advertising for a head of communications with a salary of 40k and a lot of responsibility. For that sort of money you're not going to get anyone to move things forward and so the cycle continues. I've long thought that the game in the UK is what it is and I just need to accept that and not expect anymore.

I've long thought that the game in the UK is what it is and I just need to accept that and not expect anymore. I understand what you’re saying, but let’s not forget this Head of Communications role is a new role… so although it’s not that highly paid (although I’d imagine it’s a decent salary for Leicester) to get someone who’s going to drive change, it’s still someone who wasn’t even there before! In that respect it’s a step forwards. Regarding the franchise model – surely that requires participating teams to pay an annual fee of some kind. Either an agreed sum or a percentage of profits. Isn’t that how the franchise model works?! I doubt the BBL organisation survives on just the money it makes from its 3 annual final events and Matchroom’s All-Stars Championship.
