The two big guys being available made a difference for the Rocks (should have been able to see it out last week but didn’t). The YouTube coverage is shocking. Clock all over the place, can’t cover the whole court, no shot clock. There were problems again with the shotclock in the arena at some point, and the scoreboard had a power failure in the 1st. So that might have affected the youtube broadcast's ability to get it, depending how they do it. Shouldn't make a difference. Think it runs through LiveStats.

Rocks did a great job on crowding out Rahmon, when Rahmon plays poorly the Eagles play poorly. Djo-Ebala dominated for the Rocks.

Really like the make up of our team. Both teams did their best to lose it. Pryor is the xfactor. Ali fraser sunday, ebala today, our inside game was the best I've seen it. Jb and malcolm chipping in off the bench makes us stronger than last season. If Murray can learn to be assertive consistently (fits and starts last night and was very quiet first half), Pepper learns that the referees over here suck balls (I’m sure he will) and Pryor can be the go to guy he was last night, I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to see Rocks up there challenging this season. As I say, early days and teams will get stronger around them, but you’ve a relatively deep bench, a coach that clearly knows what he’s doing and an unselfish looking roster (Djo Ebala especially looks an animal). As for Eagles, I’m encouraged despite the loss. Fletcher won’t make that many turnovers often, you were basically two starters and a key component from the bench down after Morsell got hurt after the first quarter and still had opportunities to win the game (two layup misses from Schlitzer seemed like key moments but overall he does add a lot to Eagles - I just don’t remember him from Scorchers at all). Mitchell needs to control the foul trouble because he’s key defensively, and I just got the impression they’re all still trying to figure each other out a little bit with the added dimension of Hussein and Schlitzer. Its a shame IRF isn’t here because this is about the deepest and most versatile looking Eagles team I’ve seen for a while. If Glasgow is what he’s billed to be, they’re no longer going to be over reliant on Fletch and Defoe. Exciting times all round I’d say.

Spot on Bigz. It will be interesting to see how these teams compete in the scrap for 2nd place behind Riders.

" If Murray can learn to be assertive consistently (fits and starts last night and was very quiet first half) " - Not sure how much we can or should expect from Gareth this season. His 35th birthday (a few days ago) seems to have gone under the radar, but we often see posts talking about needing to limit minutes and (perhaps) expectations on contributions from the likes of Defoe, Lasker, Thomson, and (last season) Achara, and that's maybe where Murray is now? Experienced veteran, on a young and fit team. We don't seem to see the athleticism or range of scoring abilities that he's shown in the past. When did we last see him get open to cut in on the baseline to dunk a lobbed pass, for example?

I don't think I explained myself properly when I said assertive - he doesn't need to be the focal point go to guy of an offence and be the main man. For all his talent (and I rate him highly as you may know) he's never been the first option offensively - the difference being he wasn't having any influence on the game first half whatsoever at either end - he has to be better than that. I'm looking at him in a similar role as Drew Sullivan when he was in his twilight years. Sullivan was a better player certainly defensively, but he'd set a tone and have his hand in setting up offences and making extra passes etc. That first half he literally didn't seem interested in anything. For rocks to be as successful as I think this team (from what I've seen) can be, he has to be at the races

Well put bigz. Gareth started well but then 2 fouls and sits. He is defensively great and walt your right we've not seen a dunk from G for a few seasons it was a big play in the sterl playbook and mostly worked. Probably a different style now but lavandier has put a structure in place that is good to watch and clinical
