They’ll need to - this could be Riders biggest winning margin yet.....

Maybe not, in the two games so far, we have eased off when the game was won, 2nd half v Sharks, and most of Q4 v Chester

Easy win for Riders.
Which is a shame bearing in mind that Manchester made themselves pretty competitive last season.

Definitely a shame for the league that Manchester seem to be one of the few teams to of taken a step back, hoping for a good win for us!
Imo we are already showing to be better than last year so this is a chance to show some improvement from last weeks action

Imo we are already showing to be better than last year so this is a chance to show some improvement from last weeks action I'd say Rocks Eagles and Worcester are the only three teams that I'm convinced have taken a step forward so far, but there are league wide visa issues affecting most teams so results at the moment cant be scrutinised too much.
Still, I'm finding it hard to see past Riders at a canter here.

I don't really understand what's happened at Giants. Budget cut? Something else?

As Bigz has mentioned above, teams struggling with Visas. Giants missing possibly their best player in Jonathan Mulmore last weekend, plus a couple of others. I think they will be competitive once sorted.
Mulmore looks an exciting player and is definitely one to keep an eye on this season.

I’m am never over confident when we play Giants away, We always seem to make hard work of it for some unknown reason, Still going for a Riders W but not but a massive amount, plus we will only pull away in the last Q

Still no Mo Walker and Rema Lascelles is also out of action today.

A rather one sided affair at HT. Riders up by 24 and Giants have only scored 20 all game. 3-point shooting wayward by both sides.

This is a terrible game, Giants are looking awful and from what I have seen so far this season this is the worst looking Riders team I have seen in years, right now. They could be better with a couple of players back from injury but at this point in time which is what am judging them by they don’t look that scary.
No Hamptons, Holders, Washington’s or Taylor King Type players. I think they look ordinary and just keep them on the 3 point line as they are terrible out there.
Even though it’s still early in the season and a long way to go where teams will improve, the only ones to have impressed me so far are Eagles, Royals, Rocks and Wolves.

A 39-point win takes Riders to 3-0.
Another double-double for Josh Ward-Hibbert.
Double-double for Kyron Cartwright.

JWH is definitely going to want a pay rise next year if he maintains this standard.

Little concerned about how we'll fare against Eagles if we don't have Walker or the new import.

Ward Hibbert has massively improved in the summer

Ward Hibbert has massively improved in the summer I don't think it happened that suddenly - the more time he's given the better he performs. We didn't play him enough a couple of years ago, possibly because we didn't need to as we had other options available? What he brings to the court is high energy and a smart basketball IQ. He frequently manages to obtain rebounds by being more determined to chase down opportunities where others won't. I'm pretty sure the renaissance in Anderson's scoring is down to seeing JWH threatening his time on court with great performances. He used to score well but then became our go to defender (with Washington) and occasional 3 point perimeter shooter. JWH was scoring from outside and inside at the hoop so Anderson had to step up. They are now two of the better Brits in the BBL. Both solid team-first guys.

He'd become to come through to this level of performance in the last quarter or so of last season. Turning into a real asset.

I wonder what will happen with him. Potential GB appearance? Move to a higher league?

I wonder what will happen with him. Potential GB appearance? Move to a higher league? Guess that depends on him to some extent. He's getting more minutes and is a starter atm. I think he'd be ambitious to play for GB if that were to come his way but Europe? Again, that would be a personal decision with many factors coming into play, one of which is salary of course. I'm pleased we were able to re-sign him for 2019-20.

No surprise to me that Ward Hibbert has come good - it was always likely to happen given the opportunity.
I didn't notice until I looked back at the stats how good of a job Cartwright did last night - he's definitely the best of the new boys as far as I can see so far.
Not impressed with Leicester offensively, lot of missed threes and again (not surprising given Walker's continued absence) a lack of scoring from the bigs. They could also do with an import wing sooner rather than later. They do look as active as ever defensively mind.
If no Walker for Riders and Morsell is fit for Eagles, I make Eagles favourites even before we get to the issue of whether Glasgow will be ready. Means nothing going forward mind as I've said countless times on a few threads - just in the context of the next game.

Even though it’s still early in the season and a long way to go where teams will improve, the only ones to have impressed me so far are Eagles, Royals, Rocks and Wolves. Seriously? Every team will have bad games shooting the ball. Despite barely making a jump shot the first 20 minutes we still put 96 on the board and won by 40. Turrible, just turrible! Hampton was ordinary last season. I'm really not fussed at all that he's gone. Namon Wright has scored 15+ in every game so far (20+ three times). Early returns suggest he's going to be a more than adequate replacement for Holder who was just OK last season anyway. Cartwright, I suspect, might not make quite the same scoring contribution as some of the league's other noteworthy point guards but his vision/passing looks to be second to none. Very good chance he leads the league in assists. He's comfortably better than anything we had at the position last year. Anderson must be playing about the best basketball of his career currently and Ward-Hibbert has been a revelation. He's averaging 18 and 12 so far in 'competitive' action... And it's possible he doesn't even start when we're eventually full strength. The scheduling changes have pretty much turned these early Cup games into an extended preseason so I think it would be unwise to read too much into them. But the bottom line is we're currently 6-0 with an average winning margin of 20. I just don't see how anyone can read 'worst Riders team in years' into that start. I think there are easily more positives than negatives for us thus far. Throw in a healthy Mo Walker and a half decent third American and I think there's a pretty good chance we're better this year. I said months and months ago when Rocks completed their roster that I thought their recruitment looked pretty average and it'll take more than a two point win over and under strength Eagles team to change my mind. No reason why they can't be better than the sum of their individual parts but if they get anywhere near contending for the league I think Lavandier will have performed a miracle. Wolves will surely be better this season... They could scarcely be worse. But I'm not actually convinced they're more talented now than they were 12 months ago. I think the top four, in whatever order, ought to pick itself this season. I'd be surprised if Rocks or Wolves are in it and I'd be amazed if Riders aren't.
