When I look at the Live Stats on my iPhone, which is a useful way to keep an eye on or catch up on scores, I can’t see the actual scores. They’re too far off the side of the screen, and no matter what I do I can’t see them. The only option is to turn my phone sideways to landscape mode, which isn’t ideal. I assume it’s not just me with this problem? www.bbl.org.uk/livestats/

Yeah same here on Android. Another example of unprofessionalism from the BBL I guess – a professional sports organisation that can’t display it’s results in a format that can be viewed on a smartphone. Anyone know who I could contact to get them to try and address the issue?

Turn your phone and it works fine Yeah I know, I said it works fine in landscape mode, my point is that you’d think they’d be able to format it so that the scores can be seen without having to turn your phone on its side (as has always been the case previous seasons). Plus not everyone will know to do that and just assume there's no scores to be seen. Maybe it’s just me but I think it’s really unprofessional.

That's not a bbl thing tho mate, its used all over the world for stats. I get what you're saying tho I appreciate what you’re saying, but it is the BBL that’s caused it. In previous seasons they’ve grouped the fixtures by Championship, Cup and Trophy – and the scores were clearly displayed for all games no matter what way you were holding your smartphone. This season they’ve listed all the fixtures in one long list, but added an additional column e.g. ‘BBL Cup 2019-20’ for every fixture line. That’s pushed the data to the right and the scores are now no longer visible unless you know to turn your phone to landscape mode. Otherwise ‘Live Stats’ is just a list of fixtures, with no scores. I work in IT (maybe that’s why it’s bugging me so much) and it just feels very amateur. I’d be happy to give them some advice if I knew who to contact!

I thought your complaint was livestats changing!

I'm not sure why that's even called livestats. Are the scores live or are they just final scores?

I noticed the scores had dropped off the side of the screen in portrait mode too, I’d just assumed my ageing phone wasn’t as wide as most current models. Glad to hear it’s not just me!
If I remember rightly, the BBL page is ‘live-ish’ - you’ll get the current live score when you load the page, but have to manually refresh for updates. (Might be wrong - I tend to get scores on FlashScore instead, but sometimes use the BBL site to get access to the more detailed Livestats page.)

Just put your finger on the fixtures section of the screen and slide it left. The results will be visible.

As far as I know it’s the only single page where you can see multiple live scores. Well, you could until they re-designed it so that the scores, live or otherwise, are no longer visible (unless you turn your phone on its side to horizontal mode). I suspect a lot of people now just think it’s a long list of fixtures past and present with no scores.

Just put your finger on the fixtures section of the screen and slide it left. The results will be visible. That doesn’t work on an iPhone 6 or iPhone 7, can’t speak for the newer 8 and X models. I’ve also tried the ‘pinching’ motion with my fingers to shrink the screen but even that doesn’t display the scores.

Thanks for the tip about FlashScore, never heard of it before but it looks like a potential replacement for the BBL Live Stats page… I assume it updates live during the games?

number23 – Thanks again for the tip about FlashScores. I download the app last night and it looks like a very good way for keeping track of BBL scores and statistics (before, after and during the games). The BBL website has just lost another regular visitor.

You’re very welcome - glad I could help! It’s definitely good for keeping up with the scores, though it doesn’t have much in the way of detailed statistics.
They did cover WBBL scores last year too (final score only rather than live), but I haven’t seen them so far this season.
