And I cant see the lions keeping up with a full strength Royals based on what I've seen. That said, the Lions may have changed markedly since the last time I saw them.
In sum: who knows?

I'm not convinced Lions have a supporting cast based on their first game, then again nor do the royals really. I'll be watching regadless

Lions have to improve massively from their showing in Worcester. I know we were basically 2 starters down (Weaver arrived at Lunchtime that day) but neither of these players are likely to replicate what Spencer & Bristol gave us last season(hopefully I'm completely wrong!).
Lions need a further quality player if we're really going to compete this season & despite many people saying they knew Ovie had signed for Lions, it's gone worryingly quiet.
With a full 2 weeks training behind us, we should show some defensive ability & we've got at least 3 players who should be able to get the score running along nicely.
If Royals have the same team as last week(& with their record there could easily be 2-3 different players) then I can't see it being a blow out & we should keep fairly close but it shows how my expectations have dropped that I'm not expecting a win!
Of course we can still lose this game & still win the Cup,which makes rather a mockery of these early games & the scores they produce!

Looking forward to this now, my first Lions game of the season.
Still concerned about whether we can really compete with Royals over 40 minutes but after reading about how good the atmosphere was last week I'm hoping that it'll continue on this week.
Not sure my voice will last 40 minutes(or even 20!) as it's the first time my voice will have been raised in 5 months but plan to make sure that Royals know that Lions fans are in the house!
Big questions are, are we playing in Euroleague? Will there be dancers? Will the DJ still be alive? Will Hamilton and MBA be there?

And why are the onscreen scores updating about 20 seconds before the video stream?! Really annoying knowing whether a shot has gone in before you’ve even seen it be taken!

1st Q thoughts
1. DJs should never be on the mic during free throws
2. Lav (I won’t put the rest due to my poos spelling) is still a beast and such a good basketball player.
3. The Americans aren’t good enough compared to the Brits to push the league forward across Europe. I’m aware money comes into this but the current standard of Brits in the league is high.
4. Biggest difference isn’t supporting cast it’s been coaching. (Only 1Q in so could change!)

HT thoughts-
1. Teams need to block off areas in front of the camera as it’s proper village having people walk in front
2. Lions look better pressing as it means they have some urgency and suits their players to go at that tempo
3. Royals should be better against a full court press.
4. I stick with all my 1Q comments but retract the coaching one if royals can’t adjust to the press in the second half

Both teams very poor from the line and Lions struggling from the 3 pt line too, it will be an interesting 4th qtr I think. Hope refs don`t spoil it

Ok I admit I only watched a bit to see the Lav twins towering over everyone else, but there was as much entertainment from the Royals fans in the last quarter - I've certainly learnt what the Lithuanian flag looks like and what the stewards think of the flagwaver !

Wow!! Excellent atmosphere from the Lithuanian fans, they must have made up 75% of the crowd. Noise as great, the guy with the flag was worth the admission fee on his own, particularly with his on- going issues with the security staff. When the security guy was clocking him at the top of the stairs it was hilarious! When the Lithuanians all started signing a Lithuanian song it was amazing! Best atmosphere in the BBL by a mile!!!
HOWEVER, its all built on sand. As soon as the 2 Lithuanians leave, so do the fans, they're not going to stick around once they've gone.
But whilst they're here, make sure you go to at least 1 game at Palace, it will show you how basketball can be.
As for the game, Lions started too slowly & were always playing catch-up. The effort of us getting to within 3 in the 3rd, was too much & we fell away in the 4th.
Royals still didn't look as though they are really coached, just a team of individuals who are talented and smart enough to get through a game, but they'll lose a fair number of games.
Lions are a big guy & a guard short if we really want to compete. Weaver looks as though he'll be OK but he needs more help inside. Justin can't play the extended minutes necessary each game, the new Spanish guy just doesn't look good enough & looks well below the level of Jordan Spencer.

My thoughts... Lions underperformed throughout the first half and despite a much improved second half they simply couldn’t recover from that.
If Lions had played how they played in the second half for the entirety of the game it could have gone either way, but alas that wasn’t the case. Royals simply played consistently better.
I know it’s still early, but I’m getting increasingly concerned about Lions this season. Apart from Robinson and Peel who are doing their usual business everyone else simply doesn’t look good enough to match, or better, last seasons success.
It’ll interesting to see how they perform at the All- Stars Championship next weekend. At this rate it could be an embarrassing early exit.

I only realised last night who the commentator was. Josh Bett, the son of former BBL player and Coach Mick Bett. He needs to get some tips off his dad on how to commentate as Mick has done some European Games in the past. It was Shocking last night!

Calm down (A LOT) would be my advice and also don't state the bleedin' obvious. If someone scores a lay-up don't tell us they did because we can see that for ourselves.
