Must win game for Lions, lose this and the cup has gone. Hopefully there's at least one big man coming in before this.

Raiders are hard to judge the raiders were excellent Sunday but I feel the lack of reliable outside shooting will cause us hassle this season unless hyland can find a consistent shot and Johnson!

Cannot see a camera set up. I thought every game was live this year on YouTube? Due to ‘technical reasons’ this game and Saturday’s Royals/Wolves games will not be broadcast. No idea why exactly, but that’s the statement from the BBL.

"Money, money, money" as the old ABBA song goes?? Coming up on my YouTube copyright reasons? No copyright issues, there’s simply no camera there! No idea why though. My guess is that it’s something as simple as no one being available to operate the camera and/or do commentary.

The Nix home game has had a camera installed high up on the wall and looking at other venues e.g. Flyers it looks like other clubs have had similar installations. On the other hand perhaps the crews that do all the filming etc. only work week ends.

Once the camera is in place no cameramen needed!

But automatic cameras arent in place at all venues, sheffield, royals & presume lions. Guess issue with facility letting the autocams be put in place.

This was Lions first home game of the season, so I don’t know whether the plan is for the Copper Box to have a new ‘robotic’ camera or not.

Fair point, but I can't imagine you'd need an expert to set the camera up. Surely point it in the right direction, switch it on and let it do the magic? Someone at the club must be able to do that. Ironically, as the home club, you'd potentially sell more tickets if for some reason the camera system couldn't be set up!

Having looked at it recently, it appeared that there is nothing robotic about the camera, rather that it's a standard camera with a bit of software panning/zooming the picture to best fit where the players are on court. I can't see what the difficulty would be in putting one of these cameras in, assuming that one can get to the required position and place a camera in the first place.

On the other hand perhaps the crews that do all the filming etc. only work week ends. Why isn’t it being used at EPSV? Is it because the Nix Ultras won’t be in shot any more as on opposite side. Seems unusual to go to trouble of installing but still using the shaky tripod.

Yes, quite right, they aren’t really robotic at all... more automated. As far as I’m aware all of these cameras are permanently installed, so that might be an issue at the Copper Box. Perhaps it’s not possible to temporarily install one, I don’t know.

I would imagine that the way it works is to effectively take a photo of an empty court, and then constantly compare the live video to it, and frame the picture around the area which has had any significant change, as that will be where players etc are positioned.
Therefore any slight movement of the camera during a game, or potentially even across games, would mean that the whole picture is considered to be different and then the software would simply constantly frame the whole court.
It could be doing the above, but comparing one frame to the next, but then it could have trouble framing players that are stood reasonably still etc.

But I think you’re overthinking it... I suspect the issue is as simple as physically setting up the camera somewhere. I’m not aware of any in use that aren’t permanently installed, maybe it’s not possible to simply have it standing on a tripod (not sure why though) in venues where they can’t get permission to permanently install it.

Keep talking about cameras and dont mention the fact london had no bigs and our 2 starting bigs combined for a grand total of 7 shots.

But I’m happy Lions finally got their first win of the season. Not as convincing as I’d like, but a win none the less. Now if they can beat Scorchers on Saturday then they’ll be in a qualifying slot in the south group, which would be quite a turnaround.

Not as convincing LTFan??? Considering I was expecting a loss, any win is a bonus & it was pretty damn convincing, particularly considering we had no big men & Plymouth had 2!
Lions played aggressive d and tried to stop Raiders passing inside & it worked. Why Raiders didn't use Bristol's tactics of throwing up 3's knowing the big men would clear up on the glass if they missed I don't know. PJ looked tactically naive tonight.
Lions spread the scoring well & Justin & Brandon sat out the 4th. When Wilcher went off injured Raiders last hope disappeared.
It wasn't pretty but we won & nothing else matters at the moment. The fact we scored over 100 & won by 15 is a bonus.
