First look at the YouTube coverage from the Copper Box. Oh dear... So Lions don’t have the new automated camera set up like other venues, instead they have a multi camera set up... and somehow it’s worse! They also don’t have the new improved on-screen graphics. And to top it all off, it’s the same awful commentary as previous seasons.
Also, why aren’t the excess lines on the court covered again?
And Live Stats aren’t working.
I hope we don’t have an entire season of all this.
Disappointing. Very disappointing.

Clearer picture at the Copper Box than the poor quality at Eagles and Giants tonight.

Clearer picture at the Copper Box than the poor quality at Eagles and Giants tonight. Better lighting, yes. But I’d say everything else is inferior, from the camera work to the commentary. Really amateur stuff from the Copper Box unfortunately, maybe the worst coverage in the league.

There was one manned camera and one white all-seeing eye type thing.
Are we really talking about this? I couldn't stay on my seat, what a finish!

Turned it off a couple of minutes from the end, no way Lions were gonna come back from 11 points down!

I’m guessing you were actually there so didn’t have to suffer the awful coverage! Worst I’ve seen from any team this season. Back to the action on the court though. A massive win for the Lions. Perhaps they are going to progress beyond of the group stage of the Cup after all...

Forgetting the game for a minute, I didn't think the coverage was that bad, the picture was good, although, yes the lines were distracting. Also thought that it was the best commentary I'd heard from them. Yes, they're certainly not on the Dam Routledge league but it was an progeny on last season, so they are learning.
As for the game! That's why we love basketball! Not over right until the end! Royals absolutely choked & for all the praise that Lloyd's been getting this season, he had no ability to change anything on that last 4 minutes. His players choked, plain & simple!!
It papers over the cracks for Lions a little, still desperate for at least one big man, preferably two but Jordan Jackson is starting to show a little promise.

Didn’t know the score and game looked done with 5 minutes left. Darius absolutely shut Peel down at this point. Lions looked incapable of scoring at this point. Then he got dragged out the paint and the game changed. Up to that point impressed with the royals. Still think the league ihas gone backwards this year. Sharks lose their best 2 players and are one of the best teams. Dusha could hardly get a minute last year plays big minutes and are one of the stronger teams.

I think Sharks are better because they play better as a team rather than relying on two excellent scorers. They were too inconsistent last season and Sharks' opponents were able to concentrate on Alexander and Williams - not so easy when 3 or 4 players can score well. There's a fluidity about Sharks in offence that just wasn't there a year ago.

Massive flop by Allen-Jordan at a crucial point with 0:52 left on the clock.

There's a fluidity about Sharks in offence that just wasn't there a year ago. We are definitely more of a team this year in the whole sense of the word. Both William's and Alexander were good, many fans disappointed that we didnt resign Alexander. However how many times were we criticised that we depended solely on these two and had nothing else? William's although good and a headliner was inconsistent and Alexander perhaps not a real team player. McKnight is not only getting real help and support from Lewis but they are a partnership. Cashew giving us something different. We also have a big in Koch that we haven't had in years; I'd go back to Paul William's. The D is good at the moment and we are spreading the scoring around. Having said that, I feel that we are still a little short if we are going to mount a serious challenge on the league. We still need more depth and still haven't replaced Sedale. The right player here could make a massive difference.

To be fair, I didn't watch all this match, but I didn't think the coverage was that bad. The switching between angles could be improved, maybe also the 2nd angle should be significantly different. The commentary was a little repetitive, didn't get the drop Mr Heinz anyone? But I'm not expecting pro commentary so it doesn't bother me much. The camera could probably be a little more zoomed out, but I think most people would prefer a traditional camera, as opposed to the "robotic" camera which has trouble keeping up with play and glitches out when something goes in and out of view at one end of the court leading to the view rapidly zooming in/out which is quite off-putting.

Yes, some venues aren't great but difficult to complain when it's gratis and it's still early days - think it'll improve over time.

The switching between angles could be improved, maybe also the 2nd angle should be significantly different. This. The two cameras were side by side so they were essentially showing the same shot, one just a little more zoomed in. And the transitions didn't help, I don't know if that was done by a vision mixer or if that was automated too.

Yeah, the transition made it look like it was switching to a replay or something, not that it was still the same live play.
