This is going to be a battle alright. Confidence at Sharks is high and their guards are playing so well atm that this is tough to predict. I reckon our defence will have stepped up a gear since the last meeting between the two teams. That could establish a platform for us to take the win but a lot will depend on Cartwright. Still don't see Lascelles as being a good enough backup at PG.

Unfortunately I have to agree about Lascelles. Every time Cartwright goes off for a breather I become nervous, in fact i'm happier if one of the Loughborough point guards replaces him like Alex Roberts.

Tough one.
I seriously think that you can throw the first game on the opening night out of the window as both teams will look completely different.
Sharks are playing well at the moment, both on D and on offence, with the guards playing their parts in both departments.
Got our butts kicked against Nix which brought us back down to the ground, a bit like after the lord's mayor show, after the Eagles game. Confidence a little too high perhaps.
Will always take any game against the riders seriously. They have too much talent and deep bench to be not concerned over 1 or 2 injuries. They'll give any one a good hard game even with one or two players missing. They've not reached the top of the group for nothing.
Would a loss matter with qualification and a home leg already guaranteed? Points wise, obviously not, but a win would work wonders for confidence etc. and perhaps even some praise.
I don't suppose we could eat into the big 20 plus score line they beat us by, no, be happy with a win and getting one over St. Rob P. :beerchug

I'm actually wondering how tonights game; Riders vs Rocks will affect this game, if at all.
a) Riders double header (Friday/Sunday) b) The result.
Riders lose, they will be making sure they don't lose against us. Although I don't believe Rob would be too happy at losing any game, they would be facing us with a real kick up the whatsits.
Do Riders still require 2 points for home advantage in the 1/4's?
A Riders win and will they run the bench against us? Again, down to Rob. Not a loser and wont throw the game by any means.
Rocks need the points to qualify and who do they play after this game, us of course. Will be more than happy to take the scalps of either or indeed both Riders and Sharks.

I think Rob will want to win both games to maintain the momentum that we have. After these games we have a three week break until our next game

Maybe not, since the winner in the North has to play 4th in the South, which is likely to be London Lions ... not ideal !!!

Maybe not, since the winner in the North has to play 4th in the South, which is likely to be London Lions ... not ideal !!! That has crossed my mind. Southern group not very clear at all at the moment with virtually any team being able to finish anywhere. Albeit Lions cant finish 1st or 2nd. Could yet very easily finish 3rd or 4th. Not an easy prospect for either Sharks or Riders, bit of a gamble though to finish 2nd in north thinking you are going to avoid Lions who might finish 4th. Think you have to aim to finish top for confidence, momentum and pride. Although Sharks do have to turn around a 21 point difference in the H2H against Riders to do that. Average point win for sharks is 22.5 but I cant really say that we've any real chance of doing that. Will be happy of a win. Win or lose we're still going to finish 2nd (unless we do overturn that 21). Even losing to Rocks in the last game we'll still be second, so it's all about that confidence and momentum.

Is Sheffield still underwater, Will the players need Nike Wellingtons, Should we bring a canoe, Will Sharks sink or swim.....
So many questions....

Lascelles very poor and free throw shooting terrible. 4 from 11 atm. We need a better backup PG.

Sharks utterly dominant. Suggest we save our better players and put the B team on in 4Q. At least we have some time for players who are injured to get fit again before the next game.

Scott's 3 point shooting getting better all the time. Showing now why we hired him.
Team missed 12 out of 22 free throws! I know what we'll be practising before our next game.

A very good win again by Sharks playing very well in half court and a poor shooting display from Riders
Sharks overcame the 8 mins Backovic was on the floor by ignoring him at the offensive end, worked a treat
Good management of game by Lyons and McKnight
Excellent defence display

Sheffield win Glasgow sharks finish first. Good battle inside a that was seen by the lack of scores in there for both teams. Sheffield guards on fire. Cartright looked poor for the first time and chuku clumsy. Decent watch all round.

I'm sure there was a post on here a couple of days ago saying that Riders would win in Sheffield...
I maybe wrong, might have been in a different thread. But ups, oh dear. Some one got that wrong and if it has been taken off this thread...
