Play like Wednesday we'll win, anything else & we'll probably lose!! With hardly any time for ticket sales, it looks like the crowd may be smaller than the amount of people within the court area!

Soo gutted for Surrey, but makes me feel a little better knowing the ‘amazing only professional basketball team in london’ lions only just scrapped through to the quarter finals 😂

A wins a win, Surrey were short-handed & Lions did enough to get the win. Although this wasn't a comprehensive win, the last two games have shown that we're finally playing like a team & not a bunch of individuals. All the players look as though they've gelled together & Ovie coming in should be the final piece of the team jigsaw.
Surrey look a decent team but are lacking height, particularly with Ryan Richards injury meaning he missed the vast majority off the game. I'd say that's the best group of Americans they've had for some time.
Wilkins got booed pretty much throughout the game due to some previous 'dirty play' in a previous game, which was very enjoyable. He handled it well and even hit the final 3 of the game, which we applauded him for!
Lions will have to play better to beat Riders but we're more than capable of doing that, it should be a decent game!

Now you can write us off if you must... I was at the game, it was a somewhat inconveniencing win against a somewhat reduced Scorchers team. Yes was got the remaining QF place but I give a lot of credit to Scorchers for being as challenging as they were until this point.

Tayo big loss tonight, Arena looks empty Understatement about the arena 🤣 think scorchers fans outnumbered home lol sure sounded like it 😜 Was an entertaining game to say the least and i got a few smiles from Lions players 😘. Just a shame about the game night commentator who can’t stick to the rules set out - no need for his input influencing the crowd and the banging on the mic... or did he feel threatened by our noise... Another sad part was i got told no drums by security and look over and BAM theres a drum. Never mind though as no one can silence me 😜

I was expecting to hear you banging on your drum, and was a little disappointed when I didn’t. I’m sorry the security said you couldn’t take it in, especially as there was certainly another, albeit smaller, drum in the arena last night.

Copied Eagles and it does state in the rules the ball has to be released within 5 seconds (try to do it incase the refs notice lol) section 43.2.3 “T he free-throw shooter shall: • Take a position behind the free-throw line and inside the semi-circle. • Use any method to shoot a free throw in such a way that the ball enters the basket from above or the ball touches the ring. • Release the ball within 5 seconds after it is placed at his disposal by the official. • Not touch the free-throw line or enter the restricted area until the ball has entered the basket or has touched the ring . • Not fake a free throw Was gutted couldn’t thats the only thing that needs changing and the fact you cant go out once in!! Apologies for disappointing you 😜 i’m sure i’ll have the chance to live up to the name

I've also counted on free throws, refs have never taken any notice of time to take free throws. I'm not sure they can count to 5!!
Arena was empty, although not quite as empty as I expected. Thought the noise from both sets of fans, given the limited number and the size of the arena was decent. If you'd put that number of fans in Crystal Palace it'd look like a good sized crowd, certainly far better than their last couple!
Not allowing the drum is ridiculous, security staff at the Box are far better than they were but enforcing a rule like that, particularly when there's another drum in the arena is plain stupid.
Oh, I should also point out, I love booing players!!! 😂😂😂

I'm not aware of any such rule, besides during free throws. Most courtside announcers do things like this during the game - though I'd often rather they didn't!

I once attending a game with a friend who insisted on shouting random things like “TROUSERS!” just as the players took their shot. It was equally embarrassing and effective.

We were once playing a D2 game and the 50 or so opposition fans turned up with newspapers which they insisted on opening and reading as we were taking foul shots.
Confused the absolute life out of me.

I agree, it wasn’t a particularly large attendance but considering the fixture was only announced about 10 days beforehand it was better than I was expecting. At least in part because of the decent number of Scorchers fans who made the journey. I think you’re right about the Copper Box too… playing in a venue with 7,000 seats is always going to make most Lions’ game crowds feel small. But you put the same number on spectators in Bristol’s, Surrey’s, City Royal’s etc. venues and you’ve got close to a sell-out. Copper Box is a great venue, but realistically too large for any BBL team.

The game night commentators at most venues are understandably mildly bias. As long as it’s not excessive I don’t have a problem with it. The current Lions game night commentator is fine. Let’s not talk about when Vince himself was on the mic during the games.
