Lions played great defence in the first half but our offence got going in the second half and we blanketed them on defence. Great to see Wright and Ward-Hibbert back. Whole team played out of their skins in Q3 & Q4. Peel was the only player we couldn't stop scoring.

A magnificent win, didn’t believe it could happen after the first half. Rob went ballistic at a timeout at the end of the 2qtr, and even the music didn’t drown out his screaming rant but it changed something. Namon Wright was great, but Joe Scott in particular won the game for us, brilliantly fed by Ky Cartwright.

Never mind Vince, when you get home jump in the bath and have a good Soko, Think you’ll need one. What the hell was Vince doing in the 3rd quarter, his side imploded whilst we went from strength to strength but he failed to call a time out,
Welcome home IRF

A complete 3rd quarter meltdown - 23 points by Riders, 6 points by Lions! If it wasn’t for that disastrous 10 minutes we would have won. But well done Riders.

Easy easy easy! The sweep is on! Something tells me Rob gave a slightly better half time team talk than Vince!! Our PG is a different class to Robinson let's be honest What else can I say? You could say that without that (admittedly excellent) 3rd quarter you wouldn’t have won the game. But I need to remember who I’m talking to. Welcome back. I said you’d be back before the Cup competition has finished.

No idea what was going through his mind not to call one!

Think when Soko is playing for Lions they'll be much tougher to beat.

Whatever Riders did at half time: bottle it. Lions in the second half: bottled it.
What an odd game. But what a comeback, what excitement and (after a very quiet first half for obvious reasons) what a positive atmosphere.
For me, the game was won in Q3 once Ky Cartwright put the burners on. When Namon Wright and Joe Scott then found the range it was game over. Justin Robinson fell to bits and Lions defence simply melted. They also began to miss shots in the way that Riders did in the first: too often taking difficult shots when easier opportunities were open.

Oh, and absolutely no way you're going to complete the sweep!! You've not managed it with better teams than you have now! Although the PG is quite decent! Those same "better" teams were all knocked out of the cup at this stage Our successful teams all slow burned and got better through the season But we could never win the sweep for that reason. We lost the chance with the first trophy each year Of course the sweep is near impossible for us but it's still on And normally you can't say that for Riders

Looked like a plan from the coach because it was **** or bust at that stage - both Wright and then Scott began shooting threes in earnest to narrow the gap. Confidence flowed when they dropped in, our defence was awesome and they began to panic somewhat.

But when Riders played better, wow did they play better. Good enough to more than compensate for when they weren’t. What I’m saying is that Riders didn’t dominate the game as some are suggesting. I’m also not saying Lions should have won. You can’t let the other team dominate a single quarter of play like that and expect to win. Riders deserved the win.

On another note, why did Lions list Soko as a bench player on the roster for last nights game, even though he wasn’t there? Was it just precautionary, in case the game had to be replayed (giving them the option to play him in the replay)?

Re the poor start fron Riders. (We made 8 turnovers in the first quarter!)
That was out first game in 19 days and we had about 3 players coming back from injury on top of that
Glad we got out of the game with a win
Defensively we were as strong as ever in the end and that will be key to us winning the league this season
Lions have been averaging 89 points this season so far I think I heard. We kept them to 63.

Leicester Riders and pablo vazquez liked a photo from Daniel Routledge Random observation: If you rank all teams in the 🌍 (not inc NBA/NCAA) by defensive points per possession and opponents' FG% the same team leads both categories. That team? @ridersbball pic.twitter.com/XYPfkU9fFcDan Routledge suggesting based on first 10 games we are one of the best teams in the world right now on defensive stats Great for the squad to be zoned in on team defense so effectively before the league even starts. That will set us up so well to win games even when we play poorly. The Lions game really is the perfect example. In Rob's post game interview he said despite trailing so heavily at half time he knew defence wasn't the issue for the team.

They should have a game against a full strength NBA side (I'm not fussy which) to determine how good they are to be fair.
How else will we know....
Or, if that doesn't measure up to the stats, maybe a Euroleague team. Again, not fussy which.
Good to see the hiatus is over by the way.

Yes you are right - it's all entirely relative I'm the first to accept the standard of opposition is poor But we certainly defend well at OUR level that's for sure And I've complained about the meaningless games at the start of the season but it's certainly going to help us be ready for when the league games start and be in decent shape All eyes now on how Soko fits in to Lions (and how often he plays) He's joining them in time for the League. Will he be able to play all their games from now on?

I'm saying we started the game disastrously And we ended the game disastrously. And fortunately for you, our disastrous second half was more disastrous than your disastrous first half! Exciting game though, probably the best of the quarter finals.

Will he be able to play all their games from now on? NBA? Euroleague? How about they just enter the FIBA Europe Cup (the FORTH tier of pan-European basketball) again and see if they can get beyond the initial group stage this time! It’s an interesting stat, but relatively meaningless. It does illustrate Riders are still the/one of the strongest teams in the BBL though.
