Seems like a ridiculous thing to say but even though it's December and the first league game of the season,it's a crucial game for us. Looking at the way teams have played in the cup so far it appears that there's a number of teams all about the same level. No team really stands out as being way ahead at the top and only a couple of teams struggling for consistency. To stay in the hunt Nix have to win this particarly as its only a home/ away situation and we need maximum points over teams hopefully behind us. One day soon we'll actually have all the squad available then we can judge our chances this season.

Well we won. We played Ok for about 6 or 7 minutes, that was 3 in the first quarter 1 or 2 in the second and 2 or 3 in the fourth. Seemed to have lost the ability to play as a team for much of the game. Stat wise no one stood out, ah well it's a win.

A wins a win and a derby one at that so I’m happy. Really enjoyed the game and to be fair giants came to play tonight and gave us a good run for our money, the 2 Liverpool lads really stepped up and for us, not too much team basketball tonight but just had enough individual quality to see us through down the stretch (just). P.S - sort that court flooring out giants, stopping the game every 5 mins to flatten the floor! (Head in hands)

Decent enough contributions from David and Jack. In this evidence I don’t think either team would fancy an away trip to Kestrels in the trophy

Player Ratings: - PJC - 8. A class act, makes up for our lack of a gameplan with talent and hustle. Missed whenever he takes a rest.
- Flannigan - 3. Poor again, definitely doesn't have the soft hands of a Gettys around the basket. At 2/13 from the floor, he's rapidly running out of time to prove he's the big we need.
- Sayers - 2. Anonymous tonight, minutes have been compromised by the recent improvements from Dizzy.
- Dizzy - 7. Looks like a man possessed this season, has moved from 7th or 8th man to starter in the injury enforced absence of Latinovic and Mouliom.
- Mockford - 6. Steady game, needs to improve his FG% given he adds little else to the team in terms of rebounding / assists.
- Ochereobia - 7. Another solid performance from big Mike. Adds rebounding and inside presence to the team, sorely missed when he was injured recently.
- Hayes - 5. Didn't quite look himself tonight, some good post-up work, but was quiet on the boards and needs to add a lot more if Nix are to make the playoffs this year.
- Coach Thomas - 4. We've got some great individuals, but at times tonight we looked like a scratch team playing together for the 1st time. We've struggled with our half-court offense for the past two seasons and still seem to have only one approach which is to out run and gun teams. Our transition defence also needs significant improvement.
Overall - 5. I'll always take a W, however not impressed with an tight 8 pt win against clearly the weakest team in the league. Could be a long year if Mouliom and Latinovic don't get back and start contributing in early 2020.

David Ulph what a step up! He's more than capable. As is Jack.
Expect those kind of rebounding numbers often from Dave though.

Jack’s defensive performance was far better than most who have played against PJC. I remember him playing with you as a young kid. Gutsy player from what I remember.
