I think if we go off the absolute outrage/carnage/offence taken that occurred when Liverpool (whilst not an excuse per se, are an amateur team) didn't travel to Solent, they should all be lined up and shot one by one shouldn't they?
That said, the minimum should be a 20-0 Rocks and a 2 point deduction per what happened to Liverpool. And a fine. And expenses to Rocks. These are full time basketball professional franchises we're talking about, its far less acceptable (and like I said when it happened to Liverpool, not acceptable anyway) than a D1 team not showing.
Makes the whole league look a joke. It may well be that a sickness bug swept the squad rendering them unable to breathe properly let alone play basketball, but I don't get that impression tbh.

For me there’s is the issue of failing to fulfil the fixture and I’d agree precedent and rules prevail whatever they may be. If the suspicions are true about the reason for cancellation then there’s a much bigger issue about luring to the authorities and ultimately their credibility. Much bigger sanction in my view. Shouldn’t be too hard to find out. Could it be the spotentisl move is related in some way to this? It’s a shame as they’ve made strides this year with their demeanour and performances in court. Put it bluntly they acted like ‘bits from the hoid’ last year

There was a game a few seasons ago when the Rocks had to call off a game due to 'Avian Flu' - they had 3-4 players down with it. They did give around a weeks notice and advised the BBL - the game was postponed and replayed. Not quite the same as the Royals poor attempt at it.

To be fair I could put a positive spin on it as well....
At least we didn't have to hear that god awful commentator screaming down the mic as if the world would never be the same again every time someone bounced the ball...

What does that mean, that Royals won’t even last the season? I’ve heard a lot of rumours, but nothing that dramatic (which of course doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not true). As for what to do – I’d vote for Royals taking a 20-0 loss, and a 2 point deduction (so essentially a 4 point loss for that game). That should be enough deterrent to avoid teams purposely forfeiting a game (as sometimes, somewhat understandably, done in the lower leagues) If the league was financially rich I’d vote for a fine too, but in all honestly taking money from any team will probably ultimately do damage to the league overall.

For all my "play the game" obsession, I'm inclined to agree with the proviso that any repeat in the next three seasons leads to much more punitive measures. As this issue appears to have been caused by money issues there's little point making it worse.

I enjoyed the podcast again - thanks for doing this. Is there a reason why you try to keep to 30 minutes ? I'd be happy to listen for longer so you could cover all the questions...
With respect to the Scorchers comments - Ryan is still with the team but is injured so not playing. You will no doubt have seen him being a very enthusiastic cheerleader during the Flyers game. The reason why our rotation is so short is due to injures - on Saturday we ran a 6 (senior) man rotation without Caylin, Ryan and Sol Rolls-Tyson. Fortunately we didn't chose to call the game off due to injuries...
As for the Royals - I would deduct 4 points and make them play the Rocks game again and pay for the Rocks expenses. Giving the Rocks a 20-0 W is unfair on the other teams who will have to play (and likely lose) at the Royals later in the season.
