Well Dunfermline tried hard & kudos to them but not quite sure what purpose this serves with the difference in standards

The BBL need to rethink this.

I’d introduce qualifying rounds to the Cup, bit like the football FA Cup, for all teams who wish to enter from across the UK, even Ireland too if it could be agreed. No token Welsh or Scottish teams. Best 4/5 teams make it through and then get a guaranteed home draw in the first round proper. It works in the German football cup, bringing in a big crowd for those who earn it and better chance of being competitive than playing away at Eagles, Lions, etc. I remember seeing Kingston Wildcats play London Leopards at Tolworth Recreation Centre about 17 years ago, great occasion.

For the Trophy, I’d swap the format with the Cup this season, like it used to be. But with smaller groups and based on seeding, not region. Also not all grouped together at the start of the season. Spread out across October and November with Championship fixtures in between.

Would still be far from perfect, but coupled with moving towards a best of five play off tie structure, would make things a bit more interesting IMO. Got to be better than pointless affairs like this and the inevitable dismantling of the Welsh National team.

It's nothing against Dunfermline honestly, but the UK doesn't have the depth to include these sort of teams alongside the top sides.
