My answer to the headline question is BBL has got worse for sure. Not sure whether Div 1 has got better.

I know nothing about British basketball outside of BBL so I found your take on the Lions and Giants defeats really interesting

Thanks for this guys. I thoroughly enjoyed the coverage. Worthing are just down the road from me so I've been prompted to try and take in a couple of games given recent events...
Thanks again for the in depth discussion on Scorchers. I think the issue is exactly a simple oTne to diagnose (if not fix). The team's identity is built around "coming from behind against the odds". For whatever reason we always seem to start games slowly and only start playing once double digits down. Sometimes we can get back, sometimes not. Hopefully we will find a way to fix that but I do fear that Gettys might get a hatful of points this weekend...
Oh - and interesting to hear your take on Big Mike. So far he has played about 4 minutes for the Scorchers so you can probably tell what Creon thinks of his talent...

Another great podcast guys, really looking forward to hearing your thoughts/news on the Royals situation in the next few days too.
Have to say the standard in the BBL has slipped somewhat compared to last season. Too many unsettled rosters and teams that have noticeably gone backwards, though signings in the last few days might help that impression a little. I’m less sure on NBL1 standards getting better - Kestrels certainly seem to have improved, but I’d say Thunder are about the same level as last season?
Also agree with the need to create an environment where clubs with pro/commercial ambitions can develop themselves/their fanbase and prove their readiness for the top tier. BBL has too high an initial barrier to entry and NBL is a melting pot of too many conflicting priorities/ambitions. (Not too sure on calling the ‘third way’ a D-League, that makes me think of an U23 league.) I put a similar comment on the BBL ‘fan survey’ last year, anyone remember that?
