Refs were an absolute disgrace, giving absolutely unnecessary and unjustified technicals to Solent to make sure that they 'knew their place' - at one point a referee was heard to say 'this is the BBL not the NBL' - it was an embarrassment The referees can't be held accountable for 19 points. But to be fair it is BBL and not NBL, he's not wrong there.
Not sure he's said they were accountable... Like Hers says the game was basically 40 minutes of dead rubber.
Whats the difference in the NBL to the BBL in terms of refereeing a game?

19 points in a dead game. I know you need something to cling to, but it was irrelevant.

They saved some face in a win and to say Solent didn't try is just ignorant. Yes we all knew it was a pointless game ultimately but to blame the referees for so much of the game when the difference was quite large is kinda stupid.

On balance I would probably rather the games were played once and the home court decided by draw. However knowing the rules should minimally tear up the usual basketball philosophy of using bench players etc for "garbage time" in the first leg. It should really change the dynamic and in those circumstances to still get whupped by that margin was surprising.
I'm sure Solent did try....to make sure that if they lost the margin was not more than they won the first game by. Mission accomplished.
Still it makes for a more interesting cup competition. Good luck to the under dog in the final.....

I was at the game as a neutral. Solent did try and looked gutted to end their winning streak, despite it meaning that they're in the final. Agreed, the officiating appeared shockingly biased towards Flyers. Is stating to the referee that there was a knock to the head grounds for a technical? Without any warning? I think not...and that's just one of many examples.
I'm glad Solent got through.

Going off subject a bit, but I do think some refs want to be the star of the show, the MVP. I only watched the game in youtube so no idea re validity of Technicals. Giving a “T” or a charging foul seems to be an ego thing.
Sorry, well played Solent too. Good luck in the final.
