Really impressed by this Eagles team, and boy do we need something to impress us at the moment !
Maxwell and Gordon were stars but Pflueger in the 3rd, Edwards in the 4th and Sayers in overtime kept us in it, not forgetting the normal great service from Darius and Fletch.
Enjoy the trip back up the A1 !

Great game. In all fairness Newcastle probably played better during the game, and definitely played better in OT. Lions, although improved, still not playing at the level they should be.
Anyway, I’m not too bothered we lost, just glad I got to watch some competitive BBL action today.

The commentary was a millions times better than the usual Lions efforts. Biggest problem was volume control, Nigel Lloyd is quietly spoken (excellent commentary though) and the other guy is too loud/excusable. But the sound mix should be able to accommodate that contrast. |

What a thoroughly entertaining and competitive game. I completely lost track of the number of lead changes we had, and wow, that three to force OT!
Maybe it was a bit sloppy at times, but it's the first game of the season so that can be forgiven.
Maxwell seems a real find, comfortably the best big man on the floor for either team.

Was a good competetitive game. Eagles played well although both teams rusty. Eagles outside shooting is going to give teams real problems this year.
I liked the commentary (it was Darren off TUB Podcast right?) although the sounds levels were all over.

Wow, great comeback for the BBL! Really impressed with what I saw from Eagles today, love the quick pace they play with. Really hope we can get in to watch some basketball at the ECA this year as they look exhilarating to watch.
Lions looked OK today, but I think they were let of the hook a little with our 3 point shooting which wasn't quite as good as you would hope. Although Sayers came up in the clutch! I think Mullins will make a difference for them as the Eagles D could just leave the Lions big men to roam the perimeter with plenty of space.
I thought the presentation of the game was pretty good and for the most part the commentary was of a good standard. Maybe just tone the hype (and volume) down a little but otherwise I thought they set a good standard for the rest of the league to aspire to. I thought it was obvious both commentators had done their homework and knew their stuff on both teams, which gave off a professional vibe for me. The interviews with the coaches pre game were good, would've liked to have seen some post match reaction but understand these things are difficult and costly to put together.
So great to see a competitive game being played again, really enjoyed it!

The content of how they discussed the game was fine. It was the angry growl of the player's name every time a shot went up that made it unlistenable for me, sadly. Sort out the volume levels and speak naturally.

Lloyd is obviously a very fine and knowledgeable co-commentator. But any similar ability that the tool has is totally overshadowed by his howling.
The main guy for the podcast that the tool sometimes appears on posts up on here occasionally. In the hope that he reads this thread, can he please have a word with his mate.
I have been very impressed with the commentary from the Bristol guy, and the guy next to Burton at Chester is also good.
The tool could also be a contender if he just calmed his arse down. I'm grateful for any youtube coverage but Lions, as demonstrated previously by "Mr Hines", mar some great camerawork by allowing these idiots to take the microphone.
Can saintpat tell us what's going on - does Vince not know what is going on, or does he not care? |
