Interesting post-match interview with coach Thomas, I suspect some players are on final warnings - He’s not a coach though is he? Fluked a trophy but other than that has no business being a coach. In Formula 1 terms he is the Lance Stoll (you know who I mean but the forum doesn’t let you spell his name properly) of the BBL, but less rich. I really disagree with this comment how can you say he is not a coach I think this is ridiculous as I think he’s a credit to the Cheshire organisation, With the funds available I really think he’s done a good job and fluke of a trophy is another crazy comment surely he’s an up and coming coach and doing a great job |

What were they funds available’ Not too sure but with there squad numbers surely his budget is no where near a lot of the teams in the bbl just feel he deserves some credit rather than being slated he’s a young and up and coming coach and doing a great job in my opinion |

Overall hes not done a bad job. People want trophies - he delivered one. People wanted Nix to make playoffs, hes done it. Give the lad a chance - I dont give a damn what people say about him getting the job in the first place - hes made a good fist of it so far and has been more successful than any since Paul Smith. |

On the evidence of the last two games I’d expect some changes of personnel pretty soon.

I was never going to pay to watch Leicester if I could watch this one instead for Freemans.
Based on all the Manchester pre-game disruption and Chester surely holding all the cards, the bookies had Chester to win by 18+
If all the Giants Americans turn out to be tasty then I would think there are going to be stunted players on the bench.
Hudson & Ulph certainly looked full of potential. Powell also had some nice touches and the (unlikely-looking) Bulgarian seems a real capture - surely 20 points in Italian Division 3 means he is easily a step above our level.
Chester looked poor the week before and carried that over into this match - Thomas needs to gel them. |

Funny old game.
I rememberHudson playing in the same Tigers team as Bigz. Showed a lot of character playing as a youngster in a team that got beaten heavily and often. Did ok from what I remember.
He’s played with Ulph for some years now at Liverpool and spinners. Both seem capable of contributing at bbl level. I remember Rangely playing in the same spinners team as Nick George, Mike Bernard and Stephen Gayle. Probably at his peak back then and I always thought he could contribute at bbl but maybe came to late for him in his career.
Sam will know the answer to this but didn’t Gordon and Whelan play in the same magic team that won the nationals 5/6 years ago? I seem to remember Pharoah was regarded as the bigger prospect back them.
I do t honestly remember Ben T as a junior but suspect he was at magic around the same time.

Funny old game Sorry I missed this last week Faz, Gordon played with Jordan’s younger brother Patrick at magic and then later at college in the states too, I think Pat is playing LEB gold in Spain.. surprised he isn’t on GB radar and would love to see him in BBL. Ben was probably a year of so older than Jordan W so it’s likely they played together, probably in d3 for Samit against me and Bigz (also ex bbl players Colin Sing and James Griffiths) at Sefton!! D3 north was pretty impressive those years (I wasn’t) but that’s a discussion we’ve probably had before on here. A lot of coaches should have signed Jack H years ago,.. Dave has been really impressive and os now a proven BBL player which I didn’t expect. Another player who I wish would have fully committed to playing BBL about 10 years ago is Josh Houghton who was nix best player against rocks.... maybe one day I will write a blog about what I think could be done to get the best Northern players to stay and play in the BBL, likely not though as nobody cares really haha |
