The correct teams playing in the final. Agree with Hersey, if they are going to play in the cup final they should play their league games as well. Hopefully that is their intention

nice clear and bright coverage again from Wildcats Arena.
general WBBL question though on something I have observed before but never known the reason why - did the clubs decide they want to stick with 2 person officiating as it saves them costs or has someone else decided WBBL and BBL will differ and one is 2 person and the other is 3 person ?

Now there's a question! D1 had three officials imposed on them, there was no consultation. If a vote was taken tomorrow I'm willing to bet it would be to return to two-"man" crews. BE absolutely won't budge, though, even when we tried to get two for the group (pre-season) stage of the L Lynch Trophy. I have (a lot) less knowledge of the WBBL. But I'm reliably told they want three refs but were told that there wasn't enough. Which suggests that there are enough refs but they don't want to do women's games. We're now into our third season of spunking money on a third official, and I can genuinely say it's not a improvement - or at the very least not enough of an improvement to make it worth spending the money on. All we've seen is more calls and a desperation from some referees to be involved in the action regardless of whether there's a need or not. No game should have 65 fouls and 86 free-throws.

WBBL gets going again this week - a week before an international break - with the eight who are willing to play all in action. Women's D1 is also back with a restructured season that sees all 11 teams playing each other once before a top 6/bottom 5 split. That does create two deadline to complete games but they were never going to get a 20-game season played and most sides (well, 8/11) are well on their way to completing the first stage.

perhaps less of there is not enough and more of not enough at a level for the 3person they want to put into a WBBL fixture ? Maybe even a region challenge in England and Wales as certainly enough based in Scotland who do BBL that even if Pride and Rocks played at same time they could cover both games without someone travelling up from England. Especially with the reduced games this season - 3 person crew could have come in for WBBL to align with BBL? Part of it should be the top lge by now should be on the 3 crew system - but it is also about presentation. There were times on the Wildcats/Lions game it reminded me more of a local or lower level national game. There were times the trail was just crossing the half and the ball was already in the key. On some breaks the lead never made it to the base and was behind the play. I know someone will find examples in BBL games tonight of this - but not as frequent as it happens in the WBBL games. On presentation - you watch top lgs different countries, its 3 person crew. You watch games in UK - and one has 2 person crew and you think - ah not the top lge. WBBL should have it like BBL does.

was just checking what the sky game after the WBBL Cup final is - and spot a very unfortunate clash in any desire to try and increase the number of neutrals and non-basketball people tuning into sky for the final. Friday evening at same time as the final, the superleague netball season starts on another sky sports channel. An unfortunate clash. Netball folk will go to their channel, basketball folk will go to theirs - and the desire to grab new people is split over two live events of women's sport at same time on same broadcaster. unfortunate scheduling there.

Indeed, I too had noticed that. And that unfortunately the netball gets the Sky Sports channel (Mix) that doesn't require a sports subscription. Although I believe the WBBL final will also be streamed on the Sky Sports YouTube channel.

They deserved it. But if Suns had played a game before that 11-0 might not have happened. I hope Suns are tired tomorrow lunchtime:)

Increasingly baffling why Winterburn isn't being integrated into the GB squad when you see her play as not just a key cog for arguably the best team in the country, but also playing the point for most of the game (and defending Carr for a lot of it, too). You probably want her on the wing if you've got alternatives at point guard, but it shows the skills she has in terms of distribution and creation at the point of attack.

Having seen Kennedy Leonard during the week, i reckon she should be involved as well
