It makes sense. But a shame Sky aren't going to show them

I'm beginning to get a sense that this season will fizzle out like the last one. I hope not.

I think tbe priority should be to get eaxh side to meet home and away so rhey can declare a legitimate champion. Screw the Trophy and see if there's time for tbe play-offs

Theres only one side with a 100% record in the BBL, they can legitimately claim to be champions

But they're yet to play the 2019 champs!

Screw the Trophy and see if there's time for tbe play-offs Since it looks fairly likely that the entire season will be played out behind closed doors, is there not an argument to say that the season could simply be extended by 2-3 weeks. Of course this would add to the payroll of each club but those who can't afford it could always cut their imports early in much the same way as some clubs brought them in late. Not ideal, but then has anything been this season? These are the things we've had to accept in order to get a season of British Basketball at all. The Play Off Final could be hosted at either the ECA or the Morningside Arena at very short notice, allowing the flexibility to delay the end of the Regular Season.

You can’t cut players after they have done their probationary period without having to pay up the full contract. It’s normally either 45 or 60 days or 8 games.

While I think it's possible that there will be limited crowds by Easter, and extra 2/3 weeks is a 10 percent increase in wages and accommodation costs. i can't see any point in that just to play a third round of games. If the BBL finished a 20-game regular season, staged the cup and play-off finals in front of limited crowds and all 11 clubs are good to go again in september, i think that would be a job well done. Where is Dunkster these days? I need to hear how there will be no basketball in 2020/21

But presumably their contracts will be scheduled to end on a specific date a few days after the end of the regular season/play offs. So this wouldn't necessarily be a 'cut' but simply not extending beyond the agreed terms. Unrelated to the season length how does this relate to injured players? For example when we had Terry Martin go back to the US around December/January and not return, would we have paid out his full contract?

Although was the thought process behind more games in 20/21 than 19/20 not fuelled by the need for more games to create more revenue? Whilst that was presumably the intention when the league thought it might have fans at games, and clearly actual revenue will be down on forecast at the time, it may still be deemed necessary by some clubs? Perhaps I'm playing devils advocate, I don't know the financial situation of any of the clubs. Other than the fact Lions are using £50 notes instead of toilet roll these days.

So will there be an abundance of caution on Tuesday for the semi-finals?

There will be separate injury clauses in contract. Normally something like 6 weeks full pay followed by 6 weeks half pay followed by termination of still unfit. The times and terms can vary though.

Unfortunate for Manchester but got to feel it all makes a mockery of the competition

And at a stroke the credibility of this tournament is blown away. What a shame.

Unfortunate for Manchester but got to feel it all makes a mockery of the competition Farcical If I was Giants I’d be asking why London games weren’t cancelled after there poz tests - a massive cover up here it looks like? BBL losing what little credibility they have left after this

So what happens if one or both of the teams that reach the final are affected by the virus? That would really finish it off well.

Think it's pretty nuts to give Lions a bye into the final. With an earlier round perhaps, but a semi? Also weird to let us play the other semi on our court. Doesn't seem fair. Probably lose now!

From the BBL webpage.
The game will tip-off at 5pm and shown live on BBL Player. The venue was decided via a remote random draw by the League central office with representatives from Leicester and Newcastle present to witness the draw.

I'm not sure what anyone expected the BBL to do. Certainly not the way I wanted to get to the final & I feel desperately sorry for Giants fans, management & players but these type of decisions have to be made.
And whilst it gives Riders an advantage playing on their home court, it's happened before. Don't forget Giants were meant to be playing Lions on their home court, I didn't see anyone shouting farce then!
I see dtb is coming up with his usual completely unsubstantiated bull**** as well. Never fails to take any opportunity to knock Lions & Vince. As Lions are now starting to play to their potential he can't criticise the coaching or the 'mood' in the camp , so he's changing his attacks( well some at least! He's still peddling the lie that Justin is unhappy with Vince and hates Kervin), luckily I think his credibility is so totally shot now that no one believes anything he writes.
