Me thinks local games are most likely As a Raiders fan I really hope that we don’t face London Lions Leicester Riders or the holders Newcastle Eagles in the First round draw other than that I don’t mind about drawing against the other BBL teams an NBL team would be ideal as it will give us more of a chance of getting far in the trophy as we’ve got a roster with players that have played in cup and trophy finals before and really great import players in Rickey McGill, Prince Ibeh and Chris Porter-Bunton and I have faith in coach PJ

Me thinks local games are most likely It's being streamed live I think so won't be able to fix it! Perhaps this would have been the only time where that may have actually been the suitable thing to do. For Eagles, I'd like to avoid Lions, Riders & Raiders in the first round if possible.

Yes it is, on Facebook Live (via the BBL page).

Lions v riders great draw Yeah, what an amazing first round game. The game everyone wanted to see in the draw, apart from Lions and Riders fans.

Reading about to change their mind again Oh I don't know... it's certainly one hell of a road trip but I actually fancy their chances against Rocks.

Presented on the BBL site as a bracket, so only one of Lions, Riders and Eagles can go through to the semi finals.

Here's what Derby Trailblazers Head Coach Matt Shaw had to say about being drawn at home to Solent in the first round of the BBL Trophy: “There are certainly positives and negatives about it. On the plus side, we obviously know a lot about them, having played them in the league over the last two seasons and playing them in the Trophy also gives us to chance to see them before we face them in the league this season. “The negative is they’re very good and on paper, although you’re avoiding a BBL team, I think the reality is they’re better than a lot of BBL teams out there. “It certainly wasn’t a fluke when they made it to the final last year, because to my mind, they’re probably one of the top six or seven clubs in the draw at this stage. “For our fans, it’s obviously a little bit disappointing. They would’ve wanted to face a BBL side because they already knew we’d be facing Solent regardless, but on the positive side, at least there will be one division side in the Quarter Finals of the competition,” he said. You can also hear Coach Shaw and shooting guard Jacob Conway talking about the draw, playing through the pandemic and Sunday's L Lynch Trophy QF versus Worthing Thunder in the last 10 minutes of this link: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0919s01

Looks like Rockets have withdrawn from the Trophy with Rocks receiving a bye to the Quarter Final.

Do reading just not like travelling north? Theyve got previous for pulling out snd covid seems a good excuse this time Would have to agree with this. Reading Rockets are claiming the pandemic is the reason for their withdrawal, but as we've said, they've got a history of doing this in regular circumstances. I'm sure the pandemic is partly responsible for their decision, but not the sole (or even main) reason. I'm not totally blaming Reading Rockets though, maybe the BBL need to think about the format of the Trophy, perhaps giving all NBL teams home court advantage in the first round. Or at least have done so this season. I said this in another thread, it's an unconventional season with some unconventional decisions being made. Let's just accept that for the 20/21 season and enjoy the fact we're actually getting to watch a season of basketball.

Do reading just not like travelling north? Theyve got previous for pulling out snd covid seems a good excuse this time They're one of the most well-respected clubs in the NBL. By "form" you mean once before in probably 10+ seasons in the BBL Trophy, some of which contained multiple group games. The irony that it would have been Rocks v Falkirk if your government hadn't blocked it shouldn't be missed. As LT says, the competition format is flawed. Some more thoughts.
