Rookies are always so hit or miss in the BBL it’s hard to tell. Very decent college numbers though

Rookie or not, I'm really surprised that despite having so much time at college he still has to have someone tie his shoelaces for him.

Someone mentioned they wanted a pf. Are.you happy with this one? That was me ... I kept repeating myself! Maybe the Scorchers listened as Creon said they desperately needed a Power Forward. And the Scorchers headline on this recruitment included the term Power Forward. I also suggested "so I'd assume that an import Power Forward is on the way, but not the type that trends towards being a Centre." So Lacey was quoted as "I’ll be whatever the team needs me to be, but playing as a three or a four, getting some outside shots and rebounding." The reality: He's a three year college starting Centre! And I'd be surprised if any Scorchers line-up would see him spend even a minute at the three as I don't know who would be at the 4 and 5 in that scenario. Having said that he has solid numbers with nationally ranked rebounding percentages across his career (23% of opposition misses last season). He played in a good Conference, I have the MAC ranked 12th in the period of his career (and 13th over the last dozen years);where I have a solid line at position 11. Depending on how you Tier the Conferences (5 or 6 Tiers), that puts the MAC as the top conference in Tier 3 (6 Conferences in Tier 1 and 5 in Tier 2). Certainly appears suited to playing as a PF. Looks to be an efficient spot up 3 point shooter. Do I think this changes everything? No. As Bullets92 said it's hard to judge a college rookie. I'd say the evidence ticks the necessary boxes to be a good BBL player. Doesn't say star but who knows. Scorchers finally appear to have the right balance, but is there too much water under the bridge to achieve anything but a couple more wins than they were heading for anyway. As a blank canvas there would be potential, but I think there is too much to fix from where they are now. Am I happy with this recruitment? Absolutely. The right position. A player who was effective in a good college conference. In the end to an element it is a crap shoot out of college, especially for a big man. Scorchers have nothing to lose and he looks to be a worthy recruit Good backstory here that suggests he will give 100% and a lovely picture with his Mum. www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/ct-spt-northern-illinois-lacey-james-mom-20190131-story.html
