To be honest, a huge amount. There's nowhere else that will take him at this stage in the season which will be a higher standard and having a London base will always be good. I imagine now no Europe it will be a lot of released players, even those we haven't seen like Mullens. Is ball better than Ware? Does his shooting fit better with Justin's control of the game and liggins defensive presence?

But it has to be with eyes on next season too otherwise what’s the point. And no doubt there will be better offers for next season.

I'm not sure he'd get a work permit. He certainly doesn't meet the normal criteria

Too long ago. Daddy's made up league doesn't count. Not saying he wouldn't get one, but BE won't endorse him so it'd have to go to a Home Office appeal

Fair enough mate, I know Johnny White had the dodgy Melbourne email, the pistons or okc contracts not work in the same way?

That kind of thing isn't covered in the rules, but it's what a lawyer would bring up in an appeal. Whether Lions are willing to put in the time/effort/money is the biggie. What he needs to do is to play serious pro basketball rather than being part of a circus.
i was reading about the joke league his dad put together. One player lost out on the chance of going to college because he believed Ball's lies - he got paid $1,000

I think it could have been successful and showcased his sons. He just didn't care enough about it and made some really bad business decisions. There's definitely potential for a league - probably in the summer - for kids who don't want to go to college.

Why wouldn't he get a work permit or BE endorse him, like any other American signing? Do his previous (brief) contracts with Oklahoma City Blue and Detroit Pistons not qualify him as a professional player. Or am I missing the point?

He's not like "any other American signing". He hasn't played professional basketball during the last 18 months. Being a training player doesn't count, because it doesn't really mean anything and is unverifiable. To get a Governing Body Endorsement he needs stats from an approved league during the last 18 months or to have played in the NCAA D1 or D2, so BE won't issue it. They aren't going to risk their ability to issue GBEs just to please the Ball family or one particular BBL club. the criteria is crystal clear, and he's not even close to meeting it. I'm not saying that the Home Office won't listen to extenuating circumstances - though whether getting caught shoplifting or having a father who wants to do everything his own way will see them make an exception is open to question. Football clubs have gone through the appeal process and won, basketball clubs have avoided it because it's costly and - to be blunt - there's thousands of American players out there they can sign instead.

There are 1000's of Americans, however 777 are also looking for players who create media attention(even if they fail miserably at doing anything about them once they sign them). Mullens, Liggins & Ware all created a buzz around British basketball when they signed, a Ball brother would create another big buzz & I doubt he'd cost nearly as much as an ex NBA player in the same realms as Liggins even with legal fees for trying to get him registered.

The jba had all the chances of being great but lavar didn't want thr the league to succeed he wanted to showcase his sons Mr tall id argue lavars model is working look at the ignite there's clearly a want for top prospects to be paid and avoid the ncaa!! If he had marketed right there would be alot of good mid major division players who may forgo atleast a season of eligibility to make some money and spray in some veterans!! I think the the thing is he needs to be playing basketball this will get him looks he can go to the g league and go look at me I've dominated overseas give me a shot!!

The real question is of course, is he actually a good enough player to take up an import spot?? Is he better than Dirk Williams?
Even with all the hype surrounding his family he still hasn't got a spot with a professional team.

I know it was an exhibition but did he not drop almost 50 on the likes of Robinson and Cory Dixon?

Ignore that, I see Jordan Spencer had 32 and Dixon had a 20/20 double double.

Are they signing him for his basketball ability or for bums on seats?
If the latter they should have learnt from Ovid- 1 game for novelty value and then very little interest.
He’s already played a game in London so the novelty value of watching him play there isn’t as high anymore surely.
Don’t see how signing highish profile Americans does anything for the development of the BBL though

You get more eyes Stateside on the Lions and LiAngelo. Then again he isn't LaVar or Lonzo so I don't know

I remain unconvinced that the general public either in London or the States are particularly interested in a player just because his brothers are decent (but not superstar) NBA players. There are 420 better NBA players, plus plenty in the D-League. Is it worth Lions risking blowing up their team, cutting Williams won't be cheap, for a guy who can't be truly game fit at a time he can't put bums on seats?

Agree with a lot of the comments on here… what would have been a great signing a couple of seasons ago isn’t necessarily a great signing right now, for a number of reasons.

They wouldn’t need to cut anyone, certainly wouldn’t be Dirk if they did though
And whilst I don’t think he’d be the best player in the league, or would get massive media attention I do think he’s definitely better than some are making out
