Could be a tough game .......for Eagles!! If Gordon is still out then it'll be hard work for Maxwell to cope with our three front players. Defoe for all his experience should struggle with keeping Jimbo and MBA away from the basket without picking up fouls and having to play a lot of minutes. Fletcher suffering for having to do so much, think it's been quite a while since he dominated games like he used to do. Jalen Hayes taking advantage of the twin towers having so much attention and our back court finally hitting three's. Interestingly my MVP for the last couple of games is Pharrah, played over 30 mins a game scoring no points at all not even taking a shot in the Sharks one.

Well that was a very unconvincing win, won mainly by Cheshire's appalling 3 pt and 1 pt shooting. Come back Justin !

Poor game,Eagles didn't have anything apart from Fletcher and Maxwell but it was still good enough to beat us. Neither side showed any quality in their play, few decent passages of play, very disappointing. We didn't appear to have any coordination nor energy a complete change from previous high tempo performances. After a run of 8 games in about 18 games is tiredness an issue? Think we were trying to bring our third quarter performances to the level of our other 3 periods, sadly we managed to bring all 4 quarters down to the same level. But we're still mid table and we're still playing basketball so it could be worse.

A few disjointed thoughts. Scrappy? Yes in parts and after the second quarter offensive collapse I really feared the worst. In the end a win with teamwork being the key. Darius' figures do not reflect the effect he had on this game. "Rolling back the years" is a term sometimes overused but this time he really did. One of the best defensive displays I have seen from him and his offense was not too shabby either! It was his energy that lifted the others and I think this turned the game around. Another standout for me was Cortez Edwards. 17 points off 80% shooting along with 4 boards, 5 assists and 3 steals is not a bad stat line. He has a really smooth shot, looks after the ball well and has a quite astonishing leap. Fletch too was on his game and did not drop his head when passses went awry or when Maxwell got in his way. At this time in the season he should know Fletch's game by now but other than that he too had a good game. MBA (Jeff, just think Brian, a man thing and you'll be close! ) continues to disappoint. I appreciate I have only seen him play a few times but he seems to me to have large periods of the game where he is just not engaged. His "chats" with the referees and Eagles bench could easily have led to a T and another reffing crew might have seen it differently. I don't think I have ever seen a game where the first Eagles free throws came after 34 minutes. Cheshire had conceded only 7 fouls until this point (Eagles were not so disciplined) but had to concede 8 in the last 6 minutes. If an away team only scores 45% from the free throw line they are not likely to win the game. When I first tuned in for the game Jeff mentioned "Gordon" and I thought "Oh goody, he's back"....wrong! When he is and Pluger along with Geordie Shore(ay) start scoring to go with their superb defensive displays, Eagles will take some beating. This time they just won ugly.

Right, let's get the apology to all listeners out there! I know it's A-Man-Ing but for some unknown and inexplicable reason I always struggle to say it. The one name that haunts me. I don't want to sound unprofessional and go with MBA or follow co-commentator Dave F with Matthew Bryan but I need to sort it out for the next time! Good thing was I was able to apologise directly to Matthew after the game and he was really cool about it.
As to the game? Sometimes you have to take what you're given and whilst Eagles did some good things and deserved the win IMHO I also think they need to thank Cheshire. A seven-point win when your opponent shoots 2 of 16 from 3-pt, 9 of 20 from the charity stripe and have 17 turnovers is a lot easier to achieve.
None of Cheshire's big guns fired enough of the time whilst Eagles got a great tune out of Maxwell and the supporting cast all chipped in. Now, in all that I'd have to credit Eagles D for making it tough on the perimeter and ensuring the right players were the ones taking the foul shots but Cheshire sure made it hard for themselves.
The excellent Jalen Hayes had a real off night but when I saw him afterwards with the ice around his ankle and limping badly it really brought it home what a brutal schedule this is for all teams this season. But as Ben Thomas said to me, "We're all just so grateful to be playing."
Fair point really so I want to give a huge shout out to all those behind the scenes whether they're paid or especially if they're not for keeping us going in these still difficult times.

Nah, Coaches can do that commentators are supposed to use surnames. Still if I can pronounce Ocherobia I should be able to Bryan-Amaning by the end of the season!
