Hmmm. Well you need to buy the land, fund the build costs, fund the build project, manage the build project, have a business model that funds the running costs, have a club infrastructure that supports venue management. Let alone the costs of a team. I would like to see the business case.a I work on lots of build projects. You need a good covanent to get funding for £10 million. Lots of detail that would be good to see but this seems very optimistic. Still if you don’t dream...j

On a related topic I've enjoyed reading Nick Nurse autobio but (as Hersey alludes to in his blog) it does gloss over some of the less ideal aspects of his time in the UK. Its a shame that more time was not spent on his time here. It clearly was hugely important in his development as a coach but its as much a book about his basketball philosophy as it is a story about his life. Equally I am sure many readers in Canada and the US would not be that interested in the stories of his says as a BBL coach! Maybe he will do a "UK" bonus addition at some point :-)
At all levels of sport and in all sports it never ceases to amaze me how many times clubs develop right on top of one another. In a booming sport where the playing personnel or fanbase is gagging for another team/club then makes sense.

You realise it's the Sussex Bears guys leading this total fantasy right? So technically they do have a junior setup. Still does not make this pipedream any more of a reality.

Yeah, i suspected and my phone has been lit up like a Christmas tree this morning. Interesting that a seven year old club plan to celebrate their 50th anniversary in three years time. I'm not sure it radically changes the odds of it happening, though. The timeframe is absolute fantasy because, having done a bit more digging they don't have a preferred site, let alone planning permission.
Having looked at their website, i reckon a few other clubs might argue with
assuming they know what that means.

I'm more disappointed in ITV. The press release was like one of my 12 year old daughters blog posts.

Agreed. The fact you've referred to it as a press release is telling. They're supposed to investigate a bit, not just trot out what an organisation wants publicise.

And Lions who have adopted the solo Clawed Paw & Ball logo combo I'm glad it's not just me that noticed that! I know it's probably only a mock-up image, but what a rip off! EDIT: I've just checked and it's not a mock-up, its the current Sussex Bears logo - which is essentially the London Lions logo in different colours. There's certainly land at Black Rock in Brighton that could be used for the proposed arena - next to the marina and the nudist beach, and the local authorities want to develop something on what is currently essentially wasteland, but as always it's the cost that'll be the issue. I'd love for it to happen though.

It could develop into a new club concentrating on nude basketball.

when I watched the what it might look like video, first impressions on the external shots was it is based on the ECA as it looks exactly like it, just different finish, and that sounds like a good starting point if that is the case.

It also looks like there’re planning on building it in LA, not Brighton seafront. 😉

Well I remember seeing Brighton Bears and it was one of my best experiences following the BBL. The arena (Brighton conference centre from memory) was packed with a few thousand and there was a great atmosphere. Plenty of other things going on in between the plays. A great all around experience.

Not a lot about the BBL in there and very little about Nurse off the court.
Having said that, I suspect it was hastily-written by a ghost-writer in order to strike while the iron is hot for a quick buck.
Nurse expresses regret about how his time ended in Brighton, but does not really provide enough information to justify why it all ended badly
