(Because he’s accepted an offer overseas)
#sayywhatyousee
Although he has alway been a bit of an individual rather than team player and Surrey have had too many of those in last couple of years -Coach Creon def needs some team players and stability

The problem with Surrey is Creon. He's everyone's friend and everyone likes playing for him but he let's everyone go

Brining the team and the spirit down.

Also the huge majority of people don't look for a new job every few weeks. It's not about forcing people to stay its about building a situation where you don't want to leave

My Big issue here is that it was announced as "season long". This wording suggests it was to distinguish it from his previous stays!

I’m guessing that was the plan, but if someone offers him 2 or 3 times the money he’s on at Surrey then he’s going to take it

However, they did beat Eagles without him. Watched a resent game and thought he was doing things I never noticed before, so maybe he was playing up for the Big bucks. LOYALTY is not a word that means much in these days, but MONEY IS. Buy Ryan see you next season 🥱

I presume he doesn't sign a (meaningful) contract? It makes Surrey looking amateurish that they keep signing a guy who clearly uses them as a temp job. The fact hes cleared off after the signing deadline just makes it even worse

Sometimes these "name" players are just not a good fit for the BBL.
If a club pays out for them there will then be an obligation to give minutes to justify what has been spent, thereby suppressing the development of others.
London seems to be the best example of players being held back by the presence of names. Little time for Ward-Hibbert or Spencer, and even in the limited minutes they are given they will always face the extra handicap of having to impress fast before they are yanked.
Get paid or get job satisfaction?

If I was a Scorchers fan I'd be delighted Richards has gone. Trouble is I'd know deep down that when he gets cut next season by whatever decent team inexplicably decides to sign him, Creon won't be able to bring the guy back fast enough. He's got to be one of the biggest wastes of money around in my view. A bang average BBL player who, year after year, manages to find some poor suckers who apparently want to pay him more than he's worth. He must have a brilliant agent.

I will admit I have never seen him play live, but from what I have seen of him in Surrey stints, I have to agree. Never lived up to the hype imho.

Think he’s a great player, really enjoy watching him play and disappointed he’s left the league... it’s a short career though, got to take money while it’s offered!
