Is winning the playoffs more prestigious than the Championship? Is it close? Despite following the league since before the start of the season I don’t think I’ve ever heard an answer to this

You can win the playoffs with a bit of luck, Riders proved that in 2000-01 But you need to be the best to become League Champions and hopefully Riders will prove that again this season. So it’s the League for me.

As above mentions its an all year round which also means teams who have the best start usually win. If you get recruitment right and can afford a decent pre season it's much easier, even if you lose player after player to season ending injuries

I see it like American football. Is it more pertegious to have the best divisional record or win the Super Bowl. For me its the Super Bowl. In the BBL the playoffs are more prestigious.

For me playoffs following a true league always feel odd. The American system is set up very differently to our league formats. They are seemingly designed simply to seed the playoffs......and make a fortune for the owners.
So for me it’s always the League.

The championship is the true test of the best team of course.
The play-offs over here do rather seem too be a very pale imitation of the US stuff. There’s only 12 BBL teams so it’s just another round of games for the sake of it

you can walk away with the play-off title having won as few as 3 games of basketball in the postseason!
so league championship is the bigger one to me.

Interesting that it seems fairly split, for the answers! Very true but the half that say the playoffs are bigger and better are WRONG !

For me the League will always be the ultimate prize as you've done it over a long period of time and deservedly in a tough season come out of it as the team with the best record. I think it's undervalued by how you might have it confirmed. You could be on the road and win it in front of opposition fans or even win it without playing. But it's still the one I value most.
What makes the play-offs special is it's usually on the biggest stage, in front of the biggest crowd and usually live on the TV. There's lots of glitz and glamour thrown in. Plus you're the "last man standing" and go into the off season with the best memory and feeling. So, I can see why people think it's better!

Regardless of which way you swing - I'm a league man - that has to be the worst comparison to back up your argument. NFL teams play 16 games against just 13/31 teams and there's eight divisional winners. It really is a qualifying competition. BBL teams play each of the teams three times, the only random factor is whether they play sides twice at home or twice on the road. Using the NBA would be a better example

Championship for me. I thought the only reason playoff competitions existed was to keep teams 9-12 interested throughout the season, as there's no relegation?

The league winners get this, (my old-school phone added alongside is not part of the prize, it is merely added to the picture for context of size i.e. v.paltry), something shiny and named to imply that you get more than you actually get.

On the other hand, here's the sort of prize the playoff winners get, much more substantial, sumptuous and so much more longer-lasting and meaningful
