Great to see. We need this consistency. It will rub off on other clubs

Always been a favourite player of mine around the league so pleased to see him continue to play in the BBL. 3 year deal is huge.
Often wondered as an Eagles fan why we never see this happen at our club, it’s always 1 year deals which I know is the norm in the BBL but Riders have shown on a number of occasions with their club that they sign players on 2 and 3 year contracts so wonder why we don’t see it at the Eagles, with us being the most successful club in league history as well.

I guess part of it comes down to what a multi year deal entails: - Can the player pull out? - Can the club pull out? - What guarantees does it give the player? - What guarantees does it give the club? It's never been clear to me it has ever suggested more than the player and club both visualise an ongoing long term relationship. Has a multi year contract ever been offered to an unproven player in the BBL? In football terms you could see a club looking to tie-up a hot prospect. Presumably the club still have the right to cut a player early (first) season of a multi year contract? What about subsequent years? By the way I think the deal with Conner is excellent, just interested on what a multi year deal entails; as I don't actually know!

I think DNH got a multi year deal before bouncing a ball in the BBL

I think DNH got a multi year deal before bouncing a ball in the BBL His first year was a one-year deal.
We then offered him a two-year deal based around his masters degree at Loughborough Uni.
The forthcoming season (21/22) will be his last of the two-year deal.

How rare are multi year deals in British basketball
In ice hockey import players usually do a year then if they've had a good season they might get another year. Only multi years I've seen have been the Brit players.

Back in the day it used to be a one-year deal.
Then press releases started quoting two-year deals but this normally meant a one-year deal but either party could cop-out at the end of the first year.
These days, two-year deals are usually linked to a uni course.
More than two-year deals are very rare.
