I stopped reading at the suggestion of accepting some teams from the Scottish league. No way in hell any Scottish league team has the money to go BBL. Its just laughable to think they do. |

It did make me think that there is a case for a model that brings the top of the NBL and the BBL closer. Maybe the BBL needs to recognise that the sport is not professional and lower it's criteria in terms of venue and finance. BE are criticised for not developing the NBL but the BBL have created and unbridgeable chasm between the leagues. Maybe at a time of clubs disappearing a review is needed?

Find some half decent US players who just play for fun over here alongside proper jobs
Call them USA All-Stars or something like that
Get them some kit with stars and stripes on
Let them play all their games away and we can increase the size of the league and sell more tickets for all the normal teams than normal at the same time
Give BBL my contact details should they need any more ideas

I'll forward them your details. Along with the PM you sent me. But they will point out that your big idea is illegal under current work permit regulations. I know you invented basketball, but in 2015 the whole D1 play-offs descending into farce because it was ruled that only pro players could play in a pro league, and they have to meet criteria to be classed as a professional.

As well as legally impossible also utterly impracticable.
Where would they practice? Medical facilities? They would all have to be based close together and want to do ‘proper jobs’.
Sounds like a Poundland version of the Harlem Globetrotters except for the fact that the globetrotters don’t work in Poundland during the day.

However, seeing as youve shown interest we could use pro UK bench warmers from a variety of clubs who don't get many minutes for their normal team to get around the pro rule Give them fake moustaches to wear and get them to learn fake US accents etc Nobody would know You could use the exact same guys in double header weekends this time with fake beards and red and white kit and call them Team Canada select Saturday they could be USA and Sunday they could be Canada Same fake accents would work both days Keeps travel costs down etc I think I'm on to something ? 11 team league could be back on Even pavilions might do a deal to make this opportunity happen? |
