Based on the fact that several times a season you get bare patches of home games etc
Is it not worth the league etc considering reducing length of season to 5 months ish and every team playing one home game and one away game ish per week
Saving about 3 months worth of player wages etc and accommodation and living expenses for each club
Same number of games but less time between them?
And pick the right time period that it might allow players to play elsewhere before or after
Our seasons lately seem to have lots of gaps and you can often go 3 weeks or longer without a home game?
There will no doubt be some disadvantages but cost savings may justify
A regular home game every week might lose some fans but might also gain some

Im not sure that taking money away from players will ever be an advantage to the season. Fewer players will sign here when they can get a longer gig elsewhere.

Would leave them another 6 months plus to play elsewhere if timings were right? Don't other pro leagues have shorter seasons? Do they look at monthly wage or total wage? Combined it might give them more salary and more opportunities around the world? Right now they are playing far less games per week with far less travel than they would expect? Aren't they? Is it possible a shorter season would actually work better for some imports? Either less time away from home or chance to play elsewhere? For UK players more chance to play elsewhere, coach or earn a second income in off season? Anyway I've put the idea up for debate as the season seems very drawn out as it is. Even as it is by the end we normally see some teams cramming games in
