Having been in Plymouth during the start of the Aussie era, I wonder if player recruitment has progressed from Facebook Messenger. |

As the NBL league teams have already been published where does that leave the Kings first team as only their lower team was included. Just playing friendlies ( or against IRF's team of USA possible recruitS)

As the NBL league teams have already been published where does that leave the Kings first team as only their lower team was included. Just playing friendlies ( or against IRF's team of USA possible recruitS) A third BBA recruit to compete with Aston and Coventry? By the third year they will be part of a projected 4 million pound split between the clubs. Perhaps the BBA were visionaries and actually foresaw the 4 million DCMS package! |

I don't understand why you'd write this, we haven't failed, we wanted a WBBL team this season and the name change on the NBL team to start the pathway. Everything else was fast tracked to see if we could help the league by adding another team following two teams withdrawing. But sadly it was all just too fast, we we've gone back to the original timescale and plan. Alex Petheram |

So as I speak into my phone / laptop for spellings and words, the pauses are me thinking and creates the ... I'll try harder going forward, as this was all just so fast I wanted to communicate quickly ... and as we where trying to fast track something, I didn't want to fuel a fire by getting formal statement written. Thanks for getting in-touch, I'm not going to stay on here very long ... as I don't want to get sucked into the world of forums, but as I forget to log out I've just seen this note. But to answer your question ... compared to the football club, the BBL budgets/ costs are much less ... if you can't prove your financial plans to the BBL and show you're sub-stainable for five years, the processes doesn't even start.
Our plan was always BBL 2022 and WBBL 2021 ... I was trying to help the league due to the two withdrawals ... in complete truth ... I should have kept my head down. No one wants clubs to come out the league as it devalues everything from players wages to sponsorship. And if major league sponsorships fall away, the league is less attractive for new comers. Like I said ... I should have kept my head down and not tried to help ...

Paul and Kevin have already been unbelievably good to us ... really kind! Riders have mentored us since January 2021 and will continue to do for this coming season. We really haven't just jumped in ... this has been done as a group with us working closely with other clubs and the league. We even spent the weekend at the play-off finals in May to understand the very biggest stage in the BBL.

AP I find this all hilarious as the BBL is on the brink of collapse and you are ignoring the obvious signs of failure. From the looks of it, there will be no paying fans in the stands to least next year. The U.K. is on the verge of another lockdown and any team willing to burn cash to compete in a meaningless upcoming season deserves to fold. 2 long term teams have just withdrawn!! It takes a special kind of stupid to even attempt to ignore these signs. I’d advise to wait a few more seasons and IF the BBL is in better shape, then make a move. Until then, save your cash and consider this a blessing in disguise! |
