Marriott has always been a master of exaggeration, lying, deception and smoke and mirrors.

Good luck to them. If they've got BBL level facilities at least there'll be a team waiting in the wings to step up when ready.

Well, the headline says "Kings join the NBL!". In fact it's Kings 2 join the NBL!". I do "get" that you want to avoid a problem where the BBL appears to be admitting a D3 (or possibly D2) side next summer. Personally I'd have gone with "Development" rather than "2" because having a second team without a first team is just plain weird. But as IRF as decided that everyone's rosy in the world of the Kings I guess nothing can go wrong. As an aside, have your WBBL side recruited anyone yet? The eligibility changes means there's a lot of clubs chasing the relatively small pool of British talent and if you're light with home-grown players you can no longer pad it out with numerous imports.

Just welcoming someone who is trying to launch a basketball club at a difficult time when others are falling away and genuinely wishing them good luck It's took a while but eventually you managed to say something half positive to them Albeit begrudgingly I'm sure

Let's just move forward ... the artical refers to the club joining the NBL which is correct. The club is called Gloucester City Kings. On to your other point/ question ... which is an excellent one! With the rules changing / changed, we've had to become a visa sponsor. Luckily the Riders pointed this out to us in Jan 2021. So we have started the process, but it can take up to 12 months, so we're slightly restricted until around Christmas. Which could push up the price tags for British passport players, as they will be in a higher demand. Which is why timings are so important to us currently around everything we do, as who knows what could or will happen in 12 months. Basketball is at a cross roads for me in Britain. It needs to take the right path and keep growing, building from the Sky deal. As the other road is very much taking the sport backwards. We've signed Layla Hall and Marlee Ball so far, a couple more due next week I believe and we've a number trailing. AP
