Lions announced Kylor Kelley this morning. With no other details from Lions to date I looked him up. 7'0" player, 215lb who played for Oregon State in Pac12 for 2 years, which with my very limited knowledge of college basketball seems a decent pedigree. He has since played for Austin Spurs in the G league.
Looks like Lions fans will be treated to some great blocks, although at 7' it strikes me he might be a little lightweight weighing only 215lb but I'm probably wrong.

2x all defence in the Pac-12 and seems very popular with Oregon state fans, could be a hell of a signing

215 is LIGHT for a 7 footer. I have watched precisely zero minutes of him play but those measurements suggests long shot blocker. Possibly hasn't played in the NBA due to being too lightweight?

Good re ruin. Looks like a long, light shot blocker to me who will have been recruited for his defence and to protect the rim. Doesn’t look like a big scorer but no doubt Lions will have 15 other guys to do that.
Since this fills three of their four US national spots, it also means that either Liggins or Dirk (or both) won’t be returning.

Shoots about 60% around the bucket. In the last 3 years he is 0/1 from the 3 point line so fair to guess that teams will be happy for him to shoot from distance!

Seems odd using an import slot on an unproven rookie centre who doesn't score much. Surely far better options out there, CJ Getty's for example.

Not a rookie. Played in the G League last season and did OK in limited minutes. Obviously not a shooter and probably not an overpowering low post scorer either. But I think length and defense are more coveted attributes at the 5 spot these days than battering ram post up play.

Lions failed to protect the rim the whole of last season so it's fair to say he'll make a big difference on the defensive end. Jordan Williams gives Lions a scoring threat inside with Taiwah stepping in with a few. I'd say Lions probably need a decent European 4 to complete the front court. Given the club's recruiting policy seems to be based around G league players, I wonder if there's a European playing there that would fit the bill.

I know CJ was a good player in the BBL and people really rated him but there was something about him that means I wouldn't be happy if he signed for Lions.

For BCL its still important to have a traditional big post player, in my opinion anyway. I'm no European Basketball expert but I wouldn't fancy him having go up against Michel Diouf at Bakken for example.

We played Cheshire in a pre season friendly his first year, a local league guard put him to shame. He may have ended up far better but as far as first Impression go I wasn't impressed

If they retain liggins this will be a scary squad!! There's nothing wrong with a defensive anchor who focuses on defence!! If he's surrounded by 4 scorers. Look at the impact Bristol had!! If he can protect the rim hustle on the offensive glass and put back lobs there's lots of guys who are making decent living doing that in the nba noel capella gobert ect

He got better as the season went on for Cheshire and was a completely different beast by the time he was in Newcastle.
