Went to the pre-season friendly at the Morningside Arena a few days ago. A few observations about C-19 precautions.
On arrival, entrance via a temporary construction that was set up as a bar area. All nicely distanced, doors open so well ventilated, all handling of plastic cups, etc very well done. All good.
Enter into main arena. A few hand sanitisers dotted about. And other than that, nothing at all. Virtually no-one wearing a mask. No social distancing anywhere. Doors open and reasonable waft of air. Must say I was really surprised. Leicester has consistently been amongst the worst-affected areas and this virus has not exactly gone away.
I wonder what the other venues are doing?

different country, different type of entertainment - going to the theatre in a couple of weeks time and have had an update from them that masks must be worn for the full 1hr 45min of the performance. I would assume those going to the Rocks games will be getting the same info sent to them.

3 months on - and its a huge step backwards for one BBL side.
Social distancing is back in Scotland - so 1metre spacing between groups at indoor venues. Bigger impact for Rocks though is the capacity rule also being put in place - a maximum of 200 people at indoor seated events so next weeks game instead of being one of the fuller games will instead be the emptiest home game of the season so far.
For those who commented about lack of commentators on the BBLPlayer for Rocks home games - commentators are apparently returning for next week.

It's a bit farcical. 500 people at Ibrox or 500 at Arbroath are considerably different. Just as 200 at the Emirates or 200 at Oaklands aren't the same thing,
Whether you agree with the need for restrictions, 25 percent of capacity would have allowed for every other row to be empty and everyone would have an empty seat either side of them.

Eagles are asking to do a LFT before attending and masks mandatory.

Fingers crossed it is just a short sharp 3wk impact this - as not just has it impacted crowds allowed at Pro BBL Rocks, it has suspended adult indoor sport as we are back to 1metre social distancing and no indoor contact adult sport, and that includes basketball, is to occur in this 3wk period. So first weekend of resumption of Scottish Basketball Championship SM leagues in January cant proceed and with teams unable to train I suspect the 2nd weekend could also be at risk.
'apparently' the 500 outside and 200 indoors were not random picks out the hat - supposedly the capacities chosen were to not just limit mixing at the events but also limit mixing going to them. Either way totally random non-scientific finger in the air numbers in my humble opinion. Agree that whether you agree with the need for restrictions or not - a capacity % rule reflecting the size and location of events would have come across as more scientific and thought through than what we have. City Centre multiplex with 10 screens can have even with 1m spacing and every 2nd row not in use spread 1000 folk spread round the 10 screens of their building, all arriving in the space of 1hr and yet a space like emirates can only have 200 spread round the two large sides. Football team I follow has recently only had 1500 spread round the 4 sides of the 12000 capacity ground - in the max of 500 spectators they have decided to only open the main stand and put everyone in there! So actually reduced how well spread out folk are.

I didn't realise she'd screwed the Scottish League, as well. That sucks
Yes, the imposed numbers are unnecessary. if it's safe for 500 people to be in a 3000 capacity football ground, it's safe to have 500 in a 5000 arena. the travel to the venue etc, is no different. If I were Rocks I'd stop home games while this goes on.
The key issue seems to be that Sturgeon feels the need to be seen to be "safer" than Boris. Facts or common sense aren't going to get in the way. Even the PM is a buffoon (and it's hard to argue against that), the UK Government should be deciding policy for the whole country, even if different areas need different rules.
